1973 Ford Mustang Mach From Original Gone In 60 Seconds On The Auction Block
from AutoGuide.com News by Amy Tokic
The 1973 Ford Mustang Mach 1 that starred in the original 1974 “Gone in 60 Seconds” movie will be hitting the auction block, and there’s buzz that it could sell for as much as £100,000 (that’s about US$154,000).
This famous movie car will be sold by COYS at the Autosport International show in Birmingham on Saturday, January 14th. Eleanor – as the 1973 Mustang was dubbed in the film – is only one of the few surviving cars from the movie that’s still around. Twelve cars were built in total for the movie and five made it though the stunts intact. Eleanor is one of the three “hero” cars used, which means it was used in scenes with actors, as well as for driving shots, dialogue and interior action shots.
And time has been good to Eleanor – she still looks as good today as she did in the movie. Sporting a metallic grey exterior that’s accented with black stripes, the 1973 Ford Mustang Mach 1’s interior carpets and seats are spotless and don’t exhibit significant wear or damage. She still runs too – Eleanor’s side exit exhausts still rumble and the switch to arm the Nitrous Oxide system and “go baby go” switch on the gear lever are still there. Other highlights include a 351 cubic inch Ford Racing crate motor, a 700cfm Holley 4-barrel carburetor, Schmidt 17×8-inch wheels, a bonnet with a prominent bulge and a cool billet grille.
This was deleted from the site pretty quickly. Good thing I saved it.
