I drove it to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee from Pembroke, New York for the annual July 4th Starion/Conquest Meet this year, 12 hours each direction, and it ran perfectly. ~2,000 miles later, I made it home, not a single hiccup. Pulled off a fantastic 26 MPG. In the middle of August, I drove it to Montgomery, New York, visiting friends, stopped by Orange County Choppers (you know, the TV show American Choppers where they build bikes) and moved onto Scranton, Pennsylvania for another Starion/Conquest meet. This trip was about 750 miles round trip. Again…ran fine! This car is reliable and fun, at 91,*** miles. I drive it frequently, almost daily, so miles will increase as this post gets older, until it sells.

This car is basically a TSi, without the wide body panels. It has everything else, a TSi would have. Brakes, Driveline, Intercooler, ect.

The body is pretty good for it’s age. The paint shines up nice. It’s a rare color as well. Not many Seychelles Red (code R64) cars were built. Sure…it has what I call minor rust forming in a couple areas, but again…for being a 25 year old Japanese car, it’s really not bad. Very repairable. The passenger side frame rail, (more like a unibody re-enforcement brace) like most Conquest/Starions do, is rotting. It is because the Air Conditioner Evaporator drains down into the frame rail…and leaks out from there. This was a poor design by Mitsubishi…and now that the cars are aging, they are suffering. This can be repaired…I’ve seen it done plenty of times on various cars. A good welder will be able to take care of it. It never concerned me to be honest. Don’t let it scare you. I’ve seen A LOT worse.

The engine was completely rebuilt by me, about 20,000 miles ago. I put 10,000 miles on the engine, in another car then got totalled. I then transplanted it into this car, as I bought this car needing a new engine). I’ve since driven this car 10,000 miles. Engine has no odd noises on start up, and builds great oil pressure. Doesn’t mingle low like most do. The needle never ever drops below half.

Justin

what why? Do you have any others right now?

This is all I got for right now. Looking to pay some bills, and when the time is right…I’ll find another. This is #12 for me. There’s no stopping me now, haha.

I had no idea these were rwd. Learn something new everyday

Glws

I never saw this thing buffed up, it looks pretty great all shined up justin…

Bump for the guy that knows his quest’s
I’m sure you could build 3 cars from the parts in the shop.

How much power would this put out?

No idea. I’d guess somewhere around 230ish? It’s not exactly the setup you would be looking for, if you want to make a lot of power. Throttle body Injection was never a good way to make power. There are ways to convert this to Multi-Port, but it really never interested me enough. There ARE guys who have gone over the 300HP mark, with TBI, but that is with Megasquirt and other supporting mods.

What a lot of people don’t understand, is with a Conquest…it’s not so much about going fast or making power. A lot of it, is just preserving a sweet car that turned out of the 80’s, and the pure enjoyment of driving it. I get a lot of looks driving it down the road. That is why you don’t see a lot of Conquests around anymore. People try to go too fast, without doing it properly, they blow it up, and they end up in a junkyard.

If you want to make power, put a 2.0L 4G63 in it. The engine currently in it, which it’s supposed to have, is a 2.6L G54B.

Seems like a fun ride. My neighbor down the street had one sitting in his driveway (a Starion) forever before finally bringing it back to life. But I hear you on the preservation comment. They’re a cool 80’s car and certainly would be fun to whip around in even at ~230whp. I wish I had funds for a second car, but house needs to come first :frowning:

very sharp looking conquest, and a  for goign to occ, on a side note what is in the car right now for engine management?

The stock 1987 ECI-Turbo injection. The GM MAF-T allows for fuel tuning. The only ignition tuning you can do, is physical adjustment. It has a good ol’ fashioned distributor.

ugh i’ve always loved these and this is such a nice, clean looking car.
GLWS

Thank you.

Never seen this color, or the Dodge variant, but then again, I rarely see these.
Loved these cars, another cool oddball car from the 80’s!
Did the Chrysler variants receive the wide body panels and the Dodges’ did not?

No the Starions also received wide body panels.

Oops, I should have mentioned that, I’ve see those too. I was just curious if they were excluded from the Dodge variant.

In 1984 thru 1986, these cars bared the Mitsubishi Starion and Dodge / Plymouth Conquest titles. From 1987 thru 1989, they switched from Dodge and Plymouth, to Chrysler. The widebody was produced from 1986 until 1989, both Conquest and Starion. The flatbody was made from 1984 thru 1987 under both names. It was also available in 1983, but only under Mitsubishi. It’s a lot to comprehend, but it’s not so bad.

wheres the sexy exhaust pic ? lol

Oh yeah!! Here’s the exhaust Nick re-fitted, so it actually fits properly now.

Bump.
