With the recent start of my side business, some the toys in my family are going up for sale. This is my dad’s car. Still kind of a work in progress, but with a little work it could be a very nice car or a possible candidate for a motor swap. Here are the details.
1986 Mazda Rx7 5 speed w/ original 13b (non-turbo)and a spare non-turbo motor.
151,000 miles on current motor, unknown on the spare
This has aftermarket bucket seats installed (ebay specials, I’m sure)
I am 99% positive that it has Tokico coilovers. I know it has coilovers on there, just not 100% positive on kind.
It has aftermarket American Racing wheels which are shown in the pictures and also the stock ones.
It has dual 3" exhaust of some sort with baffles installed. There may be a leak somewhere, but it sounds awesome, this car screams.
Comes with a spare alternator
This car got new paint a couple years ago and it looks great after a wash and wax.
It does have some rust underneath, not sure how bad, but it is there.
We installed a Pyle brand flip out dvd screen radio in there a while back.
I think that is everything ,but I will add more if it comes up.
We are open to offers, so don’t be shy. I feel this is a great deal and could make for a very good project. A few members on here have seen this car and can vouch for it. IT is by no means a 100% running car, but it is priced accordingly. Clean title and ready for someone with cash in hand. NO TRADES!!! $2,000!!!
Pretty much. I know last summer it drove great. If you know these motors, then you know they can be tricky to play with. It does start up and run, but it will need a battery.

It really is a fun car. I used to love driving this and throwing it sideways when I could.

Also, I’m sure you know some guys who are into these cars. Please feel free to pass this along to any of them and I would love to see this car go to someone who will put the time into it and do it right.
Me either. I think that is why he put me in charge of selling it for him. He is flexible on price too, so anyone who is somewhat interested, don’t hesitate to make any offer!
I just started looking for candidates for a small block Chevy swap. An rx7 is on my list of possibilities. How badly would feelings be hurt if I bought the car, pulled out the rotary and installed a v8?
No feelings would be hurt at all. I will tell you though that the person who buys the car takes the spare motor too. I will not separate them, but we are flexible on price!
I will be heading out today to get some interior pictures. I don’t think this has any brakes as the lines are no good. I would recommend a trailer or flat bed to whoever buys this.
