Any one out there know about these cars/motors … I have a issue
Car will not “rev” above idle (1k) when you push the gas it just smokes like it is running pig rich but the tach will not move

If you post on dubsinthebuff I’m sure you will get your answers faster. There is a group of 3 or 4 members there that seem to know everything about these cars.

It is more than likely the distributive fuel pressure regulator which is on the front of the air box held in place with 2 screws and has an electrical connection going to it. Or it is the fuel pressure regulator which is that little canister looking thing that has fuel lines going in/out of it with banjo fitting that have allen heads on them. Or, check the fuse box. On my 4000 Quattro there is a fuse, commonly called the “spare fuse” as it is opposite the other fuses and in the middle of where spare fuses are stored. Well, that fuse controls the ECU, without it the car runs like you are describing. Hope this helps.

CIS > most pre-OBD engine management.
I have owned 5 cars that had CIS. It’s not hard to work on or tune once you learn a little about it.
Not hard at all. Doesn’t mean it doens’t suck up here because 95% of the vehicles with it are rust buckets and you can’t get half of the parts off. Trust me i work on euro’s for a living.
Just get rid of the car and give it to me. Then you won’t have a problem anymore.
