civic sputters till 2k

My 1993 civic ex has developed a stumbleor sputter at idle until about 2k . I had a code 9 1st cylinder misfire so I replace the plugs ,wires, rotor ,cap , fuel filter , and pcv . I cleared the code but it didnt solve the problem . It runs fine when your above 2k but at idle until then it sounds like a misfire . The distributer is from king distributer with less than 30k on it . The check engine light hasnt come back on and it doesnt show anymore codes . Where should I go next ? Swap the distributer ? Anyone got one I can try ? Thanks

how many miles on it? Did you check the plugs? Could also be an injector problem

its the dizzy just get a new one…really it is

get a used/new one

i would say make friends with someone and just swap it out to check but i know its the dizzy

change out the coil and ignitor on it (can get the parts from any 92-00 civic/integra dizzy)

:wstupid:

if that doesn’t fix it, swap injector positions, and see if the misfiring cylinder moves too.

Alright I pulled this beater out again I pulled the dizzy and it has oil inside . There is oil inside of the cap . Im assuming it is being pumped in from the head while driving . Anyone have this problem or a solution . I hate to replace the dizzy if I can just replace a seal . Thanks

There’s a o-ring around the distributor, or there should be…

edit: part #6

Swapped it out for a rebuit one and its still doing it . Not the dizzy . Ive been told idle air control valve can anyone chime in would this cause my problems. Where is it located and how do I clean it ? Any other ideas ? I had a similar problem with a fuel pump in an old truck but everyone says civic pumps usually just die not a prolonged death like this . Thanks

iacv only effects the idle portion, and will give you a bouncy idle not anything to do with it sputtering

do a compression/leakdown test on it

check your wires agains or look inside the sparkplug hole is it covered in water or oil? it might be grounding out on the sides of the sparkplug hole.

Nothing grounding or anything in the holes . Im lost.

do a compression and leak down test???

Somethings giving me the gut feeling he’s got some valve issues.

if he did a leakdown or compression test we would know…^^^

seen the same issue for alot of reasons, one of them being a burnt exhaust valve
