Hello all,
Up for sale is my mom’s Crimson Red MR2. This MR2 in-particular is a sunroof car (kind of rare, considering most of the early cars were t-top). The car is in great shape overall, and has been her spring/summer/fall daily driver for the last year and a half. She really loves the car, but we found another one (identical, actually) for her with absurdly low miles in all original shape. It’s not cheap, but we’re going to pick it up anyways, as you just don’t come across cars like this too often anymore…
Re. the specs./details:
Factory original Crimson Red paint (very nice overall)
Factory black interior (incredible shape, near flawless)
175,XXX miles (this will ever so slowly increase until it’s sold)
Maintenance (all done in the last 5K miles):
Engine/trans. removed for full re-gasketing (front and rear main, VC, etc.)
New clutch
New fluids
Upgrades/Modifications:
Suspension Techniques Sway bars (front and rear, not too many miles)
Koni shocks (front and rear, not too many miles)
High and Tight sway bar end links (in the rear, done last month)
JVC head unit with upgraded speakers (done when I bought the car)
Otherwise, all stock!
Exterior: Very nice overall. As mentioned, the paint is all original. I think you’d be hard pressed to find another 22 year old car with original paint this nice on an MR2 with this kind of mileage. The front bumper should be repainted, though. I’m pretty sure there was a bra on the car years ago, as the paint on the front bumper has worn through in many places. It was something we intended to handle, but it never become enough of a priority for us. I can arrange for it to be painted if the new owner wants, but I figured I’d leave it to his/her discretion, as I know many folks (myself included) prefer the original patina. Aside from that, there are your typical little scratches and dings here and there. But overall, nothing to detract from the car, in my eyes. It really shows quite nice.
Interior: It is more or less mint. When I bought the car, I removed the interior and shampoo’ed the seats/carpets, degreased/conditioned the plastics, and just overall cleaned it thoroughly. The only thing I did not remove was the dashboard itself, but I didn’t have to as I was able to get the compressor nozzle in all the crevices and blow the dust out that way. Before re-assembling everything, I washed the chassis floor and made sure that it was free of any dust/debris. It is like sitting a in a brand new '91 MR2 all over again. It really is a spectacular interior.
Engine/trans.: Runs, and drives exactly as it should. Not much to say here. The 5S-FE motor is bullet proof, and especially with all new seals/gaskets, there isn’t anything to worry about for years to come. Doesn’t leak a drop of anything, and does not burn any noticable amount of oil. Trans. shifts great, no grinds or any funny business at all. Nice new clutch, to boot…
I’ve done my best to describe the car here. Keep in mind please, this is a 22 year old car. It can be nit-picked. I am not going to do that. And I won’t let anyone else do it either. It is in spectacular shape for what it is, and is a whole lot of car, for not a lot of money at all. I have full confidence in this car, and would step into it today and drive it anywhere without hesitation. We will def. miss it, that’s for sure.
Please PM for serious inquiries. I will have no problem putting the car on my lift for anyone to inspect as they see fit. I will also have it fully detailed for the new owner, exterior/interior/engine bay. We’d like it to go to a good home.
