Hey guys,
Since I need to free up some monies, the Volvo sadly has to go. In it’s place, I needed something. I went back to the MR2 again. This is my 3rd, and it’s a very nice example of a bone stock 1991 Toyota MR2. Ok fine, it has Koni adjustables all the way around and an ST sway bar up front, but I’ll take it!
It’s currently in the process of getting a ton of much needed TLC. It’s all there, and it runs and drives great, but that’s not good enough for me. I started out my pulling the entire interior, and vaccuuming and shampoo’ing all the carpets and seats. Then I pulled all the plastics, and soaked them in soapy water, and cleaned them all up. I have started putting the interior back together, it will be be done sometime this w/e.
Next week will be a little more involved. Going to pull the engine and tranny as one unit, and replace all the seals and gaskets in the entire engine. While it’s out I’m replacing the clutch, PP and T/O bearing too. I’ll then powerwash the entire engine and engine bay.
Following all this will be a full rub/buff of the paint, and then detailing all the wheel wells by powerwashing them fully, and flat blacking the calipers and hubs. Once that all dries, I have 4 brand new rotors and 4 sets of new pads to go on. While all that’s being done, I’ll thoroughly clean the wheels, and then repaint them in their OEM Aluminum color.
So yea, a lot to do, but I’m excited. I love these cars so much! Here’s a few pictures as I recieved the car in my driveway. Scary!
But rest assured, it will be PERFECT when I’m done with it! I’ll update with photos of the progress.
Joe
