1996 Integra GS-R 5 Spd question

I have the chance to pick up a decent 1996 Integra GS-R 4 door 5 spd.

It is adult owned, 108k clean body. I believe that the current owner is the 1st or second owner. Had my eyes on this car for a while. Currently Needs a gas line and a muffler, but the current owner is going to see about getting them fixed before the sale.

I am not sure about the asking price, but I expect it to be in the range of $3500-$4500 based on Edmunds.com blue book value of the car.

Here is my dilema, I am not sure I can come up with the funds for the car. Doing so might stretch my budget pretty tight for the next couple months. So I am not sure whether to go for it or not and am looking for opinions.

Also, in the event that I pass on the car, I would be willing pass along contact information if someone else is interested.

dont kill yourself financially for a car…

save save save

well, it would only be til I sold my other car. so it wouldn’t be too bad.

Agreed save up to get something you really want.

well a 96 gsr isnt a rare car, and unless its an absolute steal, id wait till you can afford it.

a 4 door gsr is a bit more rare then a 2 door

Yea, It is more the fact that it is 4 door, 5 spd that I am interested in. I want a 5 spd car and prefer a 4 door, so this does fit what I am looking for which is why I am considering it. I am just getting opinions on it, and also to see if there is interest in it if I should pass (it’s a friend’s parent’s car)

yeah, don’t strain yourself to get something that isn’t absolutely your dream car. And even then you don’t want to be “car poor”.

I could easily afford something nicer, and newer…but i want to be able to have fun. Afterall I am still just a kid, and it seems as though you are too. Enjoy your adolescence…you have the rest of your life to pay bills, and be in debt.

and don’t think selling your car is going to be easy. look at awdrifters evo.

good luck

well, after a lengthy discussion with the parents, and a good look into the needs of my bonneville, I have decided to get the car. The money saved from not having to fix a bunch of stuff right now will go into the payments for the next couple months, and by then I should be free and clear on the rest (finally getting my full time position where I work) Also, having a car that is in one piece is also a desire of mine, as the bonneville hasn’t been complete in over a year. This also gives me time to work on it slowly over the winter and put off the direct needs until spring.

reliable more expensive car > a cheap car falling apart

I have to agree and that’s what I concluded. Went over and drove the car today and it drove excellent. Snapped a couple pics while there as well. Going for the loan this weekend/next week and hopefully I’ll have it by next weekend if things go well.

Here is the car:

What do you think? Drove it and it drove real nice. Currently has a K&N and that is the only aftermarket thing. Getting a set of snows with it too. Should be doing the loan applications this weekend and should have it next week.

if you dont mind me asking…

how much are u paying for it?
