Have my 1998 Black 2.5RS for sale. It’s a 5 speed manual. The car is mostly stock with only exterior bits having been swapped out with newer year RS pieces and a wingless trunk. Besides the exterior pieces and a Pioneer headunit with a CD changer in the trunk, everything on the car is stock.
When I bought the car, the car had blown headgaskets on both sides even though it was said to have been replaced. Evidence points to some work having been done however since there are newer bits and pieces here and there that look to have been replaced (belt tensioner, water pump, oil separator plate, etc). So this past summer/winter I took it upon myself to do the repair the right way and replace all the seals on the engine. Runs perfectly now, no more shitty idle, no chugging, no loss of power… I have an entire album of pictures and receipts to prove my work was legit. Currently have winter tires on, rears are pretty new Blizzaks and fronts are near dead Nokians.
Car does have some rust on it. Mostly on the quarter panels. The underbody is actually not that bad, only small areas where surface rust is building. Brakes were done on all four corners but the car needs new rotors soon due to vibration when braking at highway speeds.
Exterior is on the rougher side. There’s a dent on the hood, like PO left a tool under the hood and closed it. Dent on the driver side quarter panel someone dinged me quite hard with, can pull it out pretty easily. Paint has never really been taken care of minus the occasional wash and wax. This was my winter car and it’s condition explains it.
Biggest problem now is that the car burns oil. I suspect the valves need some TLC. Probably need to be reseated. Valve stem seals need to be replaced (I have them). If you plan on doing them, while you’re in there you might as well buy new shims and adjust the valves too.
AC compressor disconnected for moar powaa in the winter. AC still worked before I took the belt off, compressor still spins today as well. If you want AC, all you have to do is put the belt back on and charge the system again.
