1998 VW Jetta TDI Diesel 5 speed

This is my parents car. Has served them well, it was there first experience with a diesel. and they loved it so much they have now bought a new tdi. so to pass on the the learning experience here is a mechanically sound car that’s a GREAT commuter.

Car:
1998
VW Jetta GL (aka optionless)
TDI
Green exterior with tan cloth.
AC that works AWESOME
also has a hitch (was used for a bike rack, both my mom and dad ride street bikes)
Rockford Fosgate MP3/wma CD player with aux in… its crappy and seen a few years of usage. it has a proper connector so you could swap in a stock one or use the harness to wire in a different one.

Mileage is more or less unknown, it shows less then 10k on the dash but the odo Rolled over. (on MK3’s it rolls over at 300k) so the car has about 310k
My parents JUST took it down to NC and it drove great. I would have no problem driving this car to Florida (and for the right price i would).

The car is really mechanically awesome. (some stuff done in the last 10k)
Im a TDIclub.com GURU (I only work on diesels)
this car has had:
IP pump (fuel pump) Rebuilt (this is very pricey)
the TB was replaced 50k ago (on the AHU recommendation is 60k gay i know) (I could do a new belt for the new owner if I get full asking price)
Coolant lines have been replaced
Vacuum lines have all been replaced.
Brakes have all been done.
cat back has been replaced
Every oil change i go over the car to make sure its a safe ride. and replace whats needed.

Like i said this is my parents car when it needed it I did it. they drove it to NYC, NC multiple times. my mom drives it back and forth to Rochester for work. (why soo many miles)

The car has only EVER been run on Moble1 Light truck diesel.

SOLD

the only real negative is the car has been a Buffalo car its WHOLE life. so its rusty. we nick named the car “Rusty Trusty” the frame of the car is solid. and the Strut towers are solid. but body panels are rusty. and floor boards are rusty.

NEW PICS:

I’d be interested. PM me and we can set up a time to check it out?

Can vouch for car and seller, GLWS great car.

pics please
trades?

Very interested pm me

He let me borrow this car for a weekend when I was putting a new clutch in my car and this thing drove great and definitely got awesome mileage atleast 40 mpg. The engine, trans, and clutch all feel great, brakes are good, could maybe use a strut. The engine is pretty clean too, plus CD player installed, and A/C works

Very interested in pics.

bump for pics

I already have some one coming tomorrow to look at it. but I will post pics right after if he doesn’t by, but its a dark green with tan interior and the car is rusty, bottom doors, some bubbling around handles, where the diesel filler neck is it is rotted out around it (tank and neck are plastic), the floor behind the driver seat is rusted through you can see the ground.

The strut towers are solid no rust at all, the uni-body frame rails are solid. Gas tank is plastic, fuel lines are plastic so they would never rot, brake lines are also solid. rear wheel cyl have been replaced.

the rear struts are under warranty threw AZ if they are bad I didn’t notice but flatblak did mention it.

through…

Quick phone pic’s the wifey said she will grab the D70s later for much better pics.

GL Mike! I will keep in touch with you while I am in Italy; will have to do TB/stuff when I get back

bigwoodie let me know, i have to do my TB soon too… and bring back lots of TDI pics :stuck_out_tongue:

Bump for new pics.

Price drop. ONLY for NYSpeed/DITB. I sold the Wolfsburg, so this needs to move. so i can buy my Audi before winter

I’ve got some really solid doors for this car for 20$ ea, if anyone wants them. I have a VR6 shell that would be good for other welded n panels if you wanted to cut them out and weld them in.

I sold the Wheels to the new wolfsburg owner so this will have steelies but i did get a fuel door for it, and am having a friend weld in a new floor panel so this car will be solid.

SOLD.
