This is my parents car. Has served them well, it was there first experience with a diesel. and they loved it so much they have now bought a new tdi. so to pass on the the learning experience here is a mechanically sound car that’s a GREAT commuter.
Car:
1998
VW Jetta GL (aka optionless)
TDI
Green exterior with tan cloth.
AC that works AWESOME
also has a hitch (was used for a bike rack, both my mom and dad ride street bikes)
Rockford Fosgate MP3/wma CD player with aux in… its crappy and seen a few years of usage. it has a proper connector so you could swap in a stock one or use the harness to wire in a different one.
Mileage is more or less unknown, it shows less then 10k on the dash but the odo Rolled over. (on MK3’s it rolls over at 300k) so the car has about 310k
My parents JUST took it down to NC and it drove great. I would have no problem driving this car to Florida (and for the right price i would).
The car is really mechanically awesome. (some stuff done in the last 10k)
Im a TDIclub.com GURU (I only work on diesels)
this car has had:
IP pump (fuel pump) Rebuilt (this is very pricey)
the TB was replaced 50k ago (on the AHU recommendation is 60k gay i know) (I could do a new belt for the new owner if I get full asking price)
Coolant lines have been replaced
Vacuum lines have all been replaced.
Brakes have all been done.
cat back has been replaced
Every oil change i go over the car to make sure its a safe ride. and replace whats needed.
Like i said this is my parents car when it needed it I did it. they drove it to NYC, NC multiple times. my mom drives it back and forth to Rochester for work. (why soo many miles)
The car has only EVER been run on Moble1 Light truck diesel.
SOLD
the only real negative is the car has been a Buffalo car its WHOLE life. so its rusty. we nick named the car “Rusty Trusty” the frame of the car is solid. and the Strut towers are solid. but body panels are rusty. and floor boards are rusty.
