I’ve owned this truck for almost a year and wouldn’t hesitate to drive it anywhere.
Things I’ve done during ownership:
-4 new shocks
-both front wheel bearings
-both rear calipers with pads
-1" lift blocks in the rear and new torsion spring bolts in the front, I have the correct torsion bar keys but I wasn’t able to get the old ones out
-power steering pump and both drive belts
-‘new’ spare tire
-added tow hitch and wired in receiver, haven’t towed with it yet though
-spark plugs
-I believe I did front pads too but I cannot distinctively remember
Options:
-Heated leather, power seats
-Spray in bed liner
-cd player in dash, tape player in center console
-remote entry
The third door handle is broken, which is a common problem for these trucks, $15 part, I just haven’t had time to order one yet.
The drivers mirror is broken also, I took it through a car wash so they folded the mirror in and when I went to unfold it the detent feature came apart so the mirror wasn’t attached to the base. I pulled the glass off to look inside and the glass also broke when I went to push it back on.
The truck does have some rust and the ABS light is on, which are it’s main down falls. The CEL is also on but just for a bad O2 sensor; the small dealer I bought it from had it changed but the shop changed the wrong side and the guy didn’t realize it until I was there to pick the truck up. I have the 02 sensor that needs to go in. The transmission was rebuilt around 116k by a Bobek Autotrans.
I just swapped out the one from the rusty truck to this one last night. i’ve since cleared the codes and I am going to see if it fixes the issue by drivng it a bit. Then if that works I am going to swap y-pipes since the rusty truck doesn’t have any cat codes. then it should pass inspection.
