Im in the market for a truck. Im looking into 99-02 Silverados with the 5.3L engine. What are the problems areas and what should I look for while shopping for one?
My dad has a 1999 Silverado 2WD, 4.3L V6 / Auto.
The only problem we’ve had was the backing plates rusting through, and they had to drop the rear axle and weld new ones on. That and the ABS sensors are shit. Other than that, and the rusty frame and suspension components, it hasn’t given us any problems. Keep in mind the truck is almost 9 years old and has been sitting outside it’s whole life.
