Ok guys well i just set up my new comp after the past one getting blown out by a surge. I basically just wanted to start with a clean slate so i went threw and cleaned out everything.
Now question one. I used my xp reinstallation disk that came with my dell this is a completely diff computer. In the bottom corner i keep getting the pop up every once in a while saying i have 30 days to activate. Now since this is a different comp can i use the product key that is on the side of the dell or would i need to come up with a new key for this.
Part two. I had my itunes on the old comp that is now gone. I obviously still have all my music on my ipod do i need a special program to take the music from the ipod to the comp or will i do it automatically. I always thought they wont let you go from ipod to comp just comp to ipod.
has to be the EXACT same version of XP in order to re-use the product key.
need 3rd party software. try anapod
You will most likely be able to reuse your Dell key. I forget the exact timeframe, but you can reactivate the keys after something like 60 or 120 days. (Theoretically installing it on a new computer every couple of months while the old one retains it.)
I have a set of 6 keys from Dell Dimensions that I’ve been rotating among dozens of computers for years.
Google YamIpod for transferring from the Ipod. It’s freeware, I think Anapod is shareware.
Ok well let me clarify on the xp its from an old dell that i just have kicking around for a back up i havent used this installation disk in at least a year so i should be able to use the key. Am i understanding this correctly i just dont want to f myself over lol.
If it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work. Microsoft isn’t going to send the Gestapo to your house. Probably, anyways.
Just don’t call them up on the phone if it directs you to. That means it didn’t work.
