2000 Taurus, 1 & 3 Misfire help.

2000 Ford Taurus v6
Codes P0301 and P0303

Codes mean there is a misfire in both cylinder 1 and 3.

I am looking to find out what the main cause of this might be and the best choice to try fixing first. I figured ask due to money stacking up fast if I dont get it right.

So the car sat since August. I charged up the battery and got the car started and running for a good amount of time to get the system charged up.

After driving the car the check engine finally started flashing and the car started to sputter and bog down. After 30 seconds or so of it doing that, the car kicks back and starts getting full gas and power back to the wheels. about another 30 seconds to a minute, the bog starts again.

The check engine flashes the whole time… It doesnt seem to do this when the engine is cold… At least this morning it wasnt, till it warmed up.

What do you think would be the first and most likely suspect of this issue to look into first. Any help is appreciated.

Flashing CEL is BAD.
Swap coil packs with ones and see if th codes move.

My focus did this, the 3 wire plug going into the coil pack was in really bad condition and corroded, replaced it and it was all good.

Guys, thank you! I really need the help because this is my ride now after flipping my subaru. yippy!

Flashing cell usually means you are about to cause damage to Cat Converter. I would suggest looking to see what is in common with those 2 cylinders (ex. coil pack, injector wiring/ connectors etc…) KuntryQuest has the right idea. Coil can be tested or swapped with another coil to see if the misfires move to different cylinders (providing cyl 1&3 work off the same coil)
