2002 GSXR 1000 question

I found a motor that i was going to buy for a project… like the title says 2002 gsxr 1000 motor but it has a blown head gasket… i dont know to much about the bikes internally. Im sure i can fix the head gasket myself but how expensive is it… also what else could have gotten messed up when the head gasket blew

if it’s just the head gasket…i cant see it being more then a couple hundred…

yeah i know the head gasket it around a hundred I just wasnt sure as far as internals and what not what else could have gone wrong witha blown head gasket

at worst a bad head or warped head as long as bike wasnt hydrolocked internals should be fine or run wit coolant in the oil depite rumors on that it doesnt cool oil :lol just fucks things up,just wonderin how it popped a head they were a stout motor i have never seen one go :ponder

yeah i know…and the motor only has 6kmi on it too… so idk if its worth it bc the guys selling it to me for 300 dk if i should

its always a crapshot on that shit as ya know id look harder and find one not fucked up for same price its winter ya should see more come out now :nod

yeah thats what im doing… keeping my eyes open… i found a nice 01 750 motor for 400 and its COMPLETE with everything i need (just needs a new clutch)…

i put this thread up to see if anyone had any experiences with this …i just dont wanna buy a dud… ya know?

i would do the 750 a clutch aint bad and as we all know they go more often than heads

yea

Got some plans for the ol 600 eh?

Do the 750 definitely… more than enough power and with that blown headgasket you never know what might be wrong with the motor internally.

Where are you getting all these motors?

Rip the motor apart, inspect everything, torque down properly, replace items of wear.

No better time to do it then once its out and a few bucks now will save you more trouble later on.

was talking to a guy off of RIDE-NY.COM forum… not going to be going with that motor… I am going to be getting a 02 750 motor instead from a reputable guy in Jersey.

:banana

I’m generally looking for a good deal on an 04/05 750 motor myself. Possibly 1000, but preferred 750. :ninja

Let me know when you get it, I’m curious about the swap.

will do sir!

i find deals on motors alot…one needing a clutch could be burnt fibers all through oil and into oil galleries and crank journals which is no good…head gasket could be simple or needing a head resurfaced

Where do you get your deals from?

You know you’re a redneck if you introduce a friend to your wife and sister and he only has to shake one hand. …warhammer gold buy warhammer gold http://www.warhammergold119.com
