2003 Subaru WRX

I’ll try to keep this short and simple. I’m going to look at a 2003 Subaru WRX this weekend hopefully to be my new DD. Just looking to gather as much information as possible on this vehicle. Any common problems that should be examined thoroughly. Any routine maintenance that should have been performed.

Vehicle Info:

2003 Subaru WRX
5 Speed
58k
Cobb Tuning Stage II Power Kit

Any helpful advise would be appreciated.

Timing belt, serpentine belts, broken clock, and that is it really beyond normal checks when looking at any used car.

Also a TSB for:
Cold fuel leak
ABS

Not much that really goes wrong.

Yea not much goes wrong other than user caused. Cold fuel leak should be factory fixed on the 03 but good to check for like mentioned.

I just bought a 2002 WRX and I have noticed the smell of fuel on cold days… Can you tell me where to look and /or why this leaks on cold days?

When you test drive it, shift from 1-2 and 2-3 slow and fast. Listen and feel for syncro problems.

In general they are pretty reliable cars. Cobb Stage II in itself shouldn’t raise any concern.

will make a nice DD

They do make a fine DD. Terribly average car.
