Intake gaskets are a common issue with the 4.0 motor. I just bought my parents old Explorer and that had a random and it was due to the plugs being original with 165k miles on the thing LOL. .080-.090 gap baby, that’s just awesome haha. No platinum tip even left I have pics.
I have only gotten a specific misfire code on one vehicle I had that was a Ford and it was my '04 4.6 Mountaineer. It actually showed cylinder 4 misfire. The rest of the ones I have worked on or owned showed a random and it ended up being a coil or plug.
The best way is to do a cylinder balance test with the Ford IDS or any other higher level diagnostics it will show which cylinder has the issue, basically like toomanycamaros said.
