2007 Pontiac Solstice GXP spy shots - 240 hp turbo engine

When it’s a two door convertible.

That pontiac would look alot better if it didnt remind me of a electric shaver

verts are usually heavier than coupes :stuck_out_tongue:

BTW - Fully loaded is supposed to be 25k for the SKY, I woould assume the GXP Pontiac is going to be closer to 30k… but I wouldn’t pay 30k for ~300hp.

The SKY was rumored to be 30k loaded a month ago when they sent me some literature.

@ the fair base model was 20k, loaded with the big wheels was 25k.

I also received literature on it… but I dont recall the price in the package.

 to turbos…

 to ripping off the 350Z taillights…

I hate the taillights

i like both. either one is def. gonna be my next car.

You don’t want the RS… Ford has one-upped themselves and made a newer, faster version, called the ST. It uses the Mazda 3 (and Volvo S40) platform, with a 220HP version of Volvo’s turbocharged five cylinder engine. Rumor is that it is 10 second faster around the 'Ring than the RS was. (This info comes from the July issue of Motor Trend. Oh, and we are not getting the Focus ST.)

of course were not getting another awesome car…jsut like the Cosworth…

this pontiac looks like it is 1/3 BMW 1/3 Lexass SC430, 1/3 Ponitac(dual grill)

I GOT IT, I know whats wrong with it. Its domestic.

But since that seems like too good of a 4 cyl engine, dont worry, I’ll try to help out here, a V8 fits in it

It will be interesting when the Soltice comes out to see how it performs. Like neurokinetik said, big engine, and ability to fit big tires, as well as similar weight to the S2000 ( I guess it’s not so fat), maybe it will be a sweet convertible and fun to drive.

ack, that was the one I was thinking of. yeah, why we don’t get that is beyond me. 80% of the mechanicals are US certified, ford could sneeze out the $3M or whatever to certifiy/emissions qual everything else and bring a legit sport compact over. haven’t they been watching acura/honda/toyota/scion, not to mention dodge and chevy? the focus st that we have is a joke compared to an RSX-S or an SRT-4. the decision to move SVT upscale was made under colletti, and he’s gone. bring back the budget muscle, I miss the SVT focus/contours.

or maybe they just want to let the mazdaspeed 3 eat marketshare?

Keep in mind that the SVT lives on in the new Focus, in a way. They all get the most of the SVT suspension now, and the 2.3L engine has a little better power band than the 2.0 it replaces. It just isn’t quite as nice as what they are getting in Europe.

Anyway, back on topic, I’ll be looking forward to that Solstice GXP vs. S2000 comparo when it comes out. The N/A Solstice is already doing pretty well against the '06 Miata, performance is almost too close to call based upon the fact that nobody has done the comparison on the same type of tire.

Again, 28-2900 lbs is not all that bad when you consider that is the weight range of an S2000. Corvettes weigh more like 3100. I’m sure you could drop sustantial weight in the wheels (and tires, aren’t they run flats?) alone.

They should use the 300/300 I5 from the S60R… makes great power.

:headbang:

I thought you were a V6 guy?

Exactly, no matter what its a domestic and ripping off something!

lmao… best post ever  too funny
