Been pondering getting another car and when the wife said ok to car #4, I was jumping on it. I still have my 69 Camaro, but it’s fun for me, but not for her. Too loud, not comfortable, and as TrueBlue Tom quoted me “Big block shakes her boobies”. So we have been smart with our finances lately and I said, want to get a cruiser that you can enjoy?
She always liked the Saturn Sky, and we saw a ton of them around (mostly non-turbo). With 260hp stock out of a turbo 2.0 and with a few tweaks over 300hp out of a rollerskate, and a car that my wife actually likes, it was win-win for both of us. Plus it’s a convertible.
So after scouring the interweb for about a month, I found what I would think was a great deal out of NJ. They are pretty uncommon around WNY. Low mileage, 1 owner, non-modified 2008 Saturn Sky Redline, chili pepper red. Got it dropped off at my door yesterday and already put 100 miles on it This thing is so damn fun and fast. And yes, upgrades (GMPP turbo or custom programming, new exhaust, etc) are coming soon.
I’m really intrigued by these. I would buy one but I would be worried about practicality and constantly hearing from my friends that it’s a “chick car.”
:fail::fail::fail: That is a pretty fucking retarded statement. It’s a 2 seater convertable-if you need to think about practicality for more then 2 seconds, you’re fucking retarded.
Nice car Joe:tup: I like the Sky’s lines more then the Pontiacs
Nice car! My mom has an black 08 redline, auto also. They are super fun to drive but surprisingly not good on gas at all if your in boost. But thats to be expected.
sometimes its nice to fit some stuff into a ‘fun’ car. The sky/solstice are notorious for having tiny trunks whereas a miata is quite functional, comparatively
No doubt, the 69 ALWAYS gets the garage space. My friend is storing it in his 4 car garage for the winter
Not thinking it’s a chick car at all. It’s a mini Corvette. I have no problem with driving it. It’s a fun ass car.
Thanks. We didn’t want a Solstice GXP. The Sky looked more appealing to us.
It’s getting 24mpg on the 100 miles we drove it so far. Not damn bad. I’m beating on it occasionally too to play with the boost It wasn’t bought for fuel economy. Anything I own that needs 91 or 93 octane, I’m not worrying about MPG
If you want a bad ass tune let me know cause my tuner is one of the best around. My lnf is very close to 450whp 450tq on E85 with the BW EFR swap He lives in NC but I have HP tuners for remote tune and can get you hooked up.
