LONDON – The Canadian Grand Prix has been dropped from the 2009 Formula One calendar with the season remaining at 18 races, the sport’s governing body said on Tuesday.
The International Automobile Federation (FIA) issued a revised calendar with the race in Turkey moving from August to June to allow a summer break for the teams. There will be no North American round after the U.S. Grand Prix at Indianapolis was dropped this year.

The bigger news IMO is the dropping of the engine freeze (sort of) for 2009. They are allowing teams to “equalize” performance up to the development McLaren, Ferrari, and BMW have done on their engine’s for “reliability” (concord loophole) and then be back in accordance with the 2010 regulations.
