That interactive map works well, but doesn’t include the response %;

Texas and Florida look to be winners in a population sense, NY and the northeast in general look to be loosing ground. We lost 2 representatives and it looks like they moved to Florida like everyone else, lol.

i don’t want to read too much into it… can you share some key insights?

The population isn’t growing as much in the North East and Mid West as the South and West. Why? We don’t know every reason but it’s probably a combination of escaping higher taxes, looking for job opportunities and in the case of Florida, baby boomers moving to retire.

States that have lower population growth (like NY) loose congressional seats and in return loose influence in national politics. States with higher population growth (like FL) gain seats and influence.

How do you come up with participation rates for a census? “Respond by checking this box if you’re not responding?” If you’re not here raise your hand?

don’t they know either how many they sent by region or other?

Yeah it’s the % of forms mailed back by homes that received them. Not that hard to do.

Ah. Well. My idea was funnier.

I think weather plays a bigger part than you’d suggest, for more than just old people. Winter really sucks for most people, and more and more don’t want to deal with it any more.
