Weird. Just read in car and driver that there’s a tube that runs from the intake to the passenger compartment with a “sound tuned membrane” that permits certain sounds to pass but no airflow…
Weird.

Don’t GTi’s have some sort of ‘sound tube’ also?
I’ve never heard of it before.
As much as I don’t blame them because Ford V8’s sound so sexy, that could be the ultimate ricer mod.
is this so you can hear the V8 better?
mk5 gtis have them as well
I took mine off as soon as I got it
If it were on a VW i bet tons of DUBBERS would reroute to the OUTSIDE so that people standing on the street could hear their ENGINE and their BOV!
hahaha ^
fixed.
old news, looks cheesy as hell though under the hood.
I think BMW Z4 had something like that as well
weird that they’re doing it? or weird concept?
because, the concept is basically a passive tuned speaker.
thats the most passionate automotive post I’ve seen out of you in years!
my jeep had a similar system to this. I just called it no dash and drain holes in the floor.
The technology isn’t what’s weird, just that they do it.
But whatever helps sell cars!
If you were to modify the tube so that It would allow flow, could you gain power
from driving with a “methane rich” passenger compartment?
Thats pretty much what motor trend said. I guess they made the cabin super quite while driving and the engineers could not hear the growl of the motor. I guess the “sound tube” bridges the bulkhead they said.
They should have just put the intake in the dash. That would be awesome!
Well, besides the issues it would cause…
But seriously, if youre aggressively accelerating and you cant hear your V8 rumble, why bother?
I went off my meds.
