Thanks to the guys over at Swerve and Dezod for supplying us with our intake couplings and t-bolt clamps. I never realized how hard it would be to find those locally but both were able to get them incredibly quick considering the little - to - no notice I gave them. Thanks again!

I know there are quite a few UB Engineering guys on here, if anyone is interested in joining the team for next year, they will certainly be looking for some good dedicated guys. I’d be more than willing to meet anyone at the shop if they wanted to check things out.

Congrats. Nice to see the team doing well again. Now if only the formula guys would stop sucking.

This engine runs on regular street diesel? Why has no one swapped one of these into a motorcycle yet??? Wouldn’t you get like 200lb/ft and like 100mpg? God I wish I could fabricate or had alot of money. Oh yeah, sweet sled! Congrats on everything.

That’s pretty fucking cool!

I know it’s not the main part of the competition, but how much power does it make?

It puts down about 52 hp and 70 ft-lbs at about 5500 rpm. As much as it isn’t the main part of the competition, the sled still needs to have the performance aspect. It is great to have low emissions and great fuel economy, but if it doesn’t out perform a golf cart it isn’t a feasible design alternative.

great job, but one word… Propane!

Good work

Always good to see the snowmobile team doing well again. I was on the team 2000-2002.

cool

put this in a crx

the formulais ending this semester, its budget is being split between baja and snow

Is it really??? That’s great!

Edit: The Formula team used to be competitive back in the 90’s, but at least during my tenure always seemed to attract the biggest douchebags who had no real interest in building a car or trying to learn and only ended up wasting a ton of money on a car that would never go to competition.

Screw propane. Put a big nitrous shot on it and pour the fuel to it. It’ll holeshot like a mofo. Just don’t let the egt get out of hand

Any idea on weight of sled? I’d imagine this might be an ideal set up for a work sled. Good mpg and awesome reliability although cold and diesel fuel aren’t the best of friends in the morning. I like it.

Are the hp/tq figures at the track or at the crank? If it’s at the track, that’s awesome. If not, it’s still a great setup for mileage.

The weight with a full tank of fuel is 715 lbs. The glow plugs with a 2 minute afterglow take care of any cold start issues.

The hp/tq numbers are from the crank. We’d like to get numbers at the track to see how much loss we have through the drive line, but it still moves very well.

Awesome, looks like fun

x2, as a freshman and sophomore, i wasnt allowed to do anything besides the cost report it was super annoying, the car never went to competition, but now that my buddy’s got a strong pull on the baja team, im joining that next semester, i just hang around the shop for now and help sometimes
