2012 Buffalo Motorama - March 23-25, 2012 WNY's Largest Indoor Car Show

See you there bud!

If only your birthday was on the 23rd to the 25th. Sooooooo close…

HUGE props to everyone making this show a reality. It really was great, lots of variety and even more cars (70+) than last year. Wish I could have stayed for the afterparty

Honestly I feel like this show is WAY over hyped. There were some absolutely gorgeous cars upstairs but I spent maybe an hour tops walking around and looking at everything. A couple cool bikes could also be seen. The “tuner” cars there were all super lame and something you’ve seen a million times before at local car shows, the “rice” persay. While I appreciate the effort it takes to get something like this set up I feel there still isn’t any car show put on in buffalo that is even worth attending and paying for. Battle at the border at Lancaster MIGHT be the closest thing that we get around here.

I know to many people that have nice cars that wouldnt bring them out yet. Even if they were trailered. That would be one reason. Maybe this should be later in the year. Along with the rich folk around here that buy the expensive cars, dont care to show them off at shows. Most of them are sports stars that would get bumbarded by people.

I could have done without the rice room.

Loved the upstairs, the rice room was interesting, the rest was kinda meh.

I had a good time though.

I can appreciate the “Nokturnal” room for why it was there; it is just very “sad” to see bubbled paint, 200 lbs of bondo, and horrible welds on virtually every car. I will say that the bikes down there were pretty wild.

On the upside, there were some REALLY nice cars upstairs. There were a few that I really looked over.

Thanks Joe and crew for putting this together…

Half a dozen ppl from motorama crashed a wedding reception I was attending at the Hyatt Atrium. Friends didn’t have em thrown out, & they threw the DJ a hundred bucks to keep playing. Highlight of the evening.

In general here are some points of the show:
-This is the 1st time that the entire building was filled for a show like this in over 15 years
-This is my 2nd year running this show and getting top talent coming out
-This is the Biggest and Best caliber of cars you can see without heading to Toronto or Detroit.
-$12 to get in ($10 with coupon) is the biggest bang for your buck
-NYSpeed was asked if they wanted to bring cars. People said yes, but never stepped up to the plate
-The automotive hobby is more than just one type of car, it’s classics, late model, hot rods, tuners, bikes, etc. We reach to all types and not just to a certain type.

Thanks for coming out Tommy. Wish you were able to stay longer.

You obviously don’t get out to many shows. And if you do, they aren’t the big shows. You couldn’t get the caliber of cars that I had here without traveling at least 3+ hours in the USA or going to Toronto. Before I took over the show, they NEVER brought out any big talent like Ring Brothers, RPM, Tjin Edition, Rad Rides, RDP or the like. I had 6 of the best car builders that have won SEMA Design Awards or major manufacturer awards for their cars. Not just backyard builders.

You’re statment about BATB being the biggest thing basically shows me what caliber of car you steer to and that you don’t understand the majority of the cars that do the indoor series.

As for the tuners, they had their own room and put on their own display. I had a lot of positive feedback from old and young about the room. And the best part if you didn’t like it, you didn’t have to go into the room.

If the show was later in the year then people wouldn’t participate since the weather is nice. The indoor show is for the cold weather. We got a lot of people to bring their cars out for the first time in a while or for the first time ever. I was pushing for 1 year to get guys to bring cars out.

And you didn’t have to go into that room if you didn’t like. They wanted a separate section so they used the whole area. I thought they did a great job on the display and enviroment.

The upstairs are the main feature cars. Being that we have 5 rooms to fill, people would complain if we left them void, so we use the lower rooms for other themes or excess cars.

Not a problem. Thanks for coming. There were some amazing cars upstairs. Straight out of the pages of a magazine or SEMA.

LOL, I was there. I think I know the group of people. How did they crash the wedding? We were spectating. That was a pretty small wedding. Pretty bad place for a wedding reception. Bar closing at midnight, really lame. And no separation from the reception and where people could hang at the bar.

I had my car in the show and I thought the show was put together even better then last year and I’m sure next year will be even better. I put on Battle at the Border for the past 4 years with this being its 5th year with Hot Import Nights and the Xtreme Drift Circuit taking over. Battle has always had high profile vehicles that strictly go to indoor series and daily driven local rides. but it is geared more towards the import scene which it has had its share of sema vehicles and cover cars at BATB also like the Project Gotham explorer, Kirk Bhagans 300C, the TJIn Edition tour 2 times with different SEMA builds each time, the autolife tour 3 years in a row with there SEMA builds and various other high profile rides from all over. Im not trying to sound like a jerk but BATb is not a bad show it doesnt have the hot rods in it because I geared it more towards what was lacking in this area and have improved it year by year. I did have classes for hot rods, muscle cars, classics but they didnt show and the ones that did like mustangs, camaros etc… i made them there own classes. With that aside I like that Joe and the crew do this show and I hope and believe it will get even bigger and better over the years to come

Joe it seems to be you took offense to that comment. If you read my first post I said they the cars upstairs were gorgeous and I appreciate the effort you make to put on this show. I don’t really consider myself a one type of car person, like “import, classic, etc”. I’ve owned a bunch of different cars. All I’m saying is that while the muscle cars and classics were very well represented it would be nice to see some clean import cars, and possibly some exotics. Having tv’s in the hood of your focus isn’t my cup of tea as I’m sure it’s not for most of the people on this forum. I don’t travel all over the country every year to see these shows but I have been to ones out of state before, and honestly the car scene here isn’t HALF of what it is anywhere else.

the scene elsewhere is better for “tuner” themed shows stateside you have to go to NYC or philly or jersey. But Toronto and the ontario area have the close st area for better “tuner” themed shows. BATB has been trying to improve the scene here year by year by adding more classes and putting JDM styled awards out like the JDMFest awards at last year. With HIN on board it should bring for the best yet

Nothing against BATB, hopefully I didn’t make it sound that way. You bust your ass on that show too. It’s hard to get certain models to jump into it and participate

OK cool. I tried to make this the show that it should be. It was neglected for so long so we’re almost doing damage control to bring it to what it should be. I reached out to so many groups to get their cars in, but you can’t force them. We worked on a diverse selection of cars and bikes and think it had a good representation of the hobby. I would have loved Newman to put his car in as well as some more exotics. We had a bunch of exotics last year and you know that Buffalo isn’t known for having many of them. So slim picking in some areas.
The show is only as good as good as the effort put into it. And we encouraged people to give input or pursue vehicles that they feel should be in the show.

2013… WNYFbody room?.. I’m sure we could fill it, we somehow got like 100+ cars to show up at our spring cookout

turn up the hate!

Tried. No response. And you know I’m an FBody guy too.

I never remember anything being posted on the board? If you did, my apologies. A lot of members there either don’t belong here or don’t sign on here very often so they wouldn’t have seen this thread. I can think of quite a few cars off the top of my head that would be in for sure. We have several cars that are/will be in the 700+ HP range and I think would be a great addition to your show. Good mix of GM and Ford products.

Even though I’m into the “tuner” scene I think u have a pretty sweet idea maybe even the middle room downstairs divided one side F body and one side mustang. I really like F bodies and the fox body mustang.

I liked the show last year, I couldn’t make it this year due to having knee surgery 2 days prior.

I thought the tuner room downstairs was an excellent idea. Give them their own space and let them run with it. It might make them more encouraged to bring higher caliber cars next year. Those cars are not my taste at all, but I can appreciate a lot of the work that goes into them.

I didn’t like any of the Tjin edition cars.

I thought the BOSS 429 Mustang was possibly the cleanest restored and rarest musclecar i’ve ever seen. Just about perfect.

The “RUNT” was incredible. Way better looking than any magazine showed it to be.

Rich Taylor’s 2nd gen Camaro was amazing.

The Ring Brothers’ cars were cool, but I liked the older one way more than the newer one. They let my girl sit in it for a few pics too, which was cool as hell.

It would be sweet to see a few more well-known cars there. I’m not talking SEMA cars or builder cars. How about a real NEXTEL cup car? Every team out there has “show” cars that are actual race cars that tour the country. How about an older Top Fuel dragster, like Big Daddy Don Garlits? A land-speed record car? Bonneville salt-flat car? A steam-engine car? Movie cars, like Milner’s coupe or Falfa’s '55? Smokey and the Bandit T/A and Buford Justice’s cop car? More stuff that the public can identify with.

While a cool idea I’m guessing convincing any of those to come to the Buffalo Convention Center would be a real challenge.
