So, who is going and who has gone? I generally don’t bother with it unless I get free tickets because its usually just every dealer in one place with not many exciting cars to see…but I’m actually wondering if they’re gonna have the new Focus RS there…
I will be working it tonight, tomorrow, and Sunday. Lotus Booth…
I went last night, it was pretty good. Some new stuff and the layout is a little different compared to years past.
No go on the Focus RS, but I sat in the fiesta st and its a cool little car.
Talked to a Honda rep for a while, and he hinted that they will most likely be bringing the s2k back and the US will probably get the civic type r within a couple years. Was news to me
I went last year and thought it was really good. It’s probably the only time you’ll ever see me sitting in a bunch of import cars lol. I was looking at trucks and it was nice to have a Silverado, Sierra, F150, Tundra, Ram, etc, all right there to compare rather than driving all around wny getting hounded by salesmen.
Anyone going tonight or this weekend?
Im probably going tomorrow
^ This is the only thing the Buffalo Auto Show is good for. We went the year we were looking at full sized SUV’s then again when we decided to downside to a mid-sized SUV. We were able to narrow it down to a couple then hit up a couple dealerships for test drives to make a final decision.
The website says one of the specialty cars will be the new A7 but it has a picture of a Q7??? The home page says Q7 with a picture but the link takes you to the A7 write up.??? It says nothing about the Q7 but it has pictures of it.???
Both the Q7 and A7 are there. Just covering all of their bases, I guess.
Went today, was basically the same as every other year, nothing highly exciting other than the GT3 RS - but even then, eh. Might head up to Toronto next weekend for their auto show to see some actual vehicles.
Yeah I went last night and the most exciting thing was the Nissan with a Cummins motor. lol
The Focus RS was all locked up like it was an exotic car. lol
I went last night, I though it sucked but maybe because I am surrounded by this stuff daily
Lol the Focus RS had stickers on the glass saying it was locked for OUR safety lol. Did anyone notice the brake rotors were ground with an angle grinder or something and possibly clearcoated? Wierd.
I think car companies do this for preproduction models, unfortunately. The 2017 Escapes were locked at NAIAS to protect… mostly middle aged women?
Just curious here…I have no dog in this fight… but for those folks that think the auto show sucks…why? I mean, the show is a just function of what manufacturers are producing, no? What are you hoping to see that you are not seeing?
I think people here (enthusiasts) generally want to see cars that they couldn’t see elsewhere like on the street or on a dealership lot. It’s hard to get excited about boring vehicles. I bet you that if I search Instagram for Buffalo Auto Show pictures that most of them are of that GT3 RS.
If you’re a soccer mom or dad it’s probably a great opportunity to shop cross-makes all under one roof. But it lacks the excitement of Detroit, LA or even Toronto.

But this year I was actually interested. I like my regal but leasing it is a big waste of money and no way I would buy one for 30K. It gets 22mpg and sucks in the snow with 245’s in the front.
I want to purchase a vehicle such as a new cruze, fiesta ST or Sonic RS that gets 35+ MPG, I can modify for 2-250hp, add speakers etc and not worry about mileage while saving money.
I’m trying to get out of my regal early and so far both Ford and Chevy have highly interested me, so going to the auto show was nice to see what I may eventually purchase:
Obviously ALL manuals (6 speeds)
Fiesta ST - 21 grand, 210 HP 30MPG
2016 Cruze 1.4L LT - 40MPG 18 grand (I can add my own back up camera and heated seats for 250 bucks) and they’re “peppy”, my dad had one and it could buzz through traffic all day.
2017 Cruze Hatchback - 20 Grand another 20 HP and 50 ft/lbs. over the outgoing cruze w/40MPG, besides looking better.
This is my least favorite but at the auto show the Sonic RS was super roomy and a fully loaded one is 20 Grand with 140 HP on a 2800 lb. car, 40MPG.
So I’m going to take all the money I save and buy a WS6 Trans AM LOL - it’ll be like my Viper’s buddy to keep her company in the garage.
EDIT - I forgot to mention I received a voucher for 50$ Prepaid visa card to test drive the Fiesta ST at Basil. I’m super excited!
Do it, i miss my WS6 a lot!
I hope this spring my gto will make me as happy as i was with my WS6, i havent gotten to drive it much yet.

I also want to say regarding the autoshow, i always have a lot of fun at them. I like sitting in the cars and being surrounded by beautiful interiors withthe new car scent which each manufacturor has a different smell.
When there’s a car i want to sit in but someone is in the driver seat i have my friend get in the passenger seat to make them feel uncomfortable so they leave.
Its just funny watching people there as well, i was sitting in the drivers seat of the new duramax colorado, and some guy reached in through the passenger window and just started grabbing the door panel and other plastic trim pieces and walked away. I turned to my friend thinking what the fuck was that lol.
I dont know i have fun, and theres a ton of cars there that are everyday cars that i cant afford, not even close. And i mean i cant afford to buy them, most peope who lease a brand new vehicle could not afford to actually buy it.

I went to the Buffalo show to get an idea for my wife’s next car, and I’m going to the Toronto show to drool over cars I’ll never see on the road. So they both serve a distinct purpose for me.
