I think people here (enthusiasts) generally want to see cars that they couldn’t see elsewhere like on the street or on a dealership lot. It’s hard to get excited about boring vehicles. I bet you that if I search Instagram for Buffalo Auto Show pictures that most of them are of that GT3 RS.

If you’re a soccer mom or dad it’s probably a great opportunity to shop cross-makes all under one roof. But it lacks the excitement of Detroit, LA or even Toronto.

So in essence, it is more of the lack of range of dealerships we have here, ie. no Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc.?

Yeah, when you automatically search “300 miles” on autotrader you know The Buffalo market SUCKS.

Yeah. I am spending this year grabbing investments, but I am seriously interested in potentially grabbing a McLaren MP4-12c or potentially a 458 Italia if they depreciate sub $175k anytime soon (good luck on that one for a clean example) within the next 12 to 18 months. The Buffalo Auto Show is nice for my wife to go shop for a Q5 for when VW nukes out her TDI in the impending future, but not nice to go get a closer look at anything lower production.

For me, yeah. If each manufacturer had their top of the line vehicle there or maybe there were some higher end makes on the floor I’d check it out. But as it stands there are maybe 1 or 2 cars there that I actually care for.

Just curious here…I have no dog in this fight… but for those folks that think the auto show sucks…why? I mean, the show is a just function of what manufacturers are producing, no? What are you hoping to see that you are not seeing?

I think the Buffalo auto show sucks because every dealer brings the most stripped down version of every model they have. Also, because anything decent they bring is usually roped off or up on platforms, in which case I might as well be looking at it online.

I spoke with a 13 year old who went. He summed it up great -
“There was a Corvette, Evora, GT3 & a BMW i8…the rest was a kinda boring.”

Not this year, I’m in Cali. I went just about every year from about 2005-2014 though and was always disappointed.

I was there last year and almost all of the full-size trucks were loaded. Silverado High Country, GMC Denali, Toyota 1794, etc

They had some loaded up whips…the one that surprised me…a $37k+ Ford Escape.

NO WAY IN HELL would I put down almost 40 gs for a damn Escape. An ESCAPE!
