2013/2014 Snowmobile Season

Hamburg opened too I believe…not that it matters.

Were planning on going to Tug on Friday. Hoping they continue to get new snow here and there.

And Folsom is closed again.

^^ I’m surprised that Folsom even opened. I heard the trails were terrible out there.

Yeah, from the sounds of it they never should have opened and shut back down when they realized it.

We’re debating about a Tug run on Sunday but I know the hill is going to be whooped to shit by Sunday since every asshole in the state is going to be riding there. It’s a lot of time trailering and money on gas/tolls to go up there and ride moguls and deal with sled traffic jams.

Shockwave, burnsmoney and I headed up to Tug today. Did 130 miles. Fuck yeah.

Dropped at Winona, headed north to Barnes Corners for fuel, further north to Copenhagen, down to Montague Inn for lunch. Probably 50 sleds there.

After lunch we bombed around C5 down to Osceola & Cedar Pine for some expensive fuel. Then back up through Pulaski / Winona to the truck. Boom.

Winona / Pulaski & Montague were amazing. Northern trails were kinda bare. Osceola was getting beat up by the afternoon.

We’re going to get an early start Sunday and trailer over to Sodus and ride East. If anyone wants to meet up PM me.

As for WNY, Marilla, Folsom, Genesee, Tri County and Franklinville all said they’re staying closed at least for Saturday. Colden, Hamburg and Boston are open. I didn’t check any others because I gave up on WNY this weekend.

Snows coming down good in niagara county. Ill be out this weekend for sure once the ok is posted.

I just went through my backyard to check the trail behind bear ridge. Mostly windblown right now. Hopefully this wind dies down so the snow will stay on the trail.

Genesee County is just 5-7 inches of powder. Looks awesome but the xp is just pushing snow aside.

Not sure what part of Niagara County you are in, but according to Sno Chiefs Facebook, the trails are open. I was out a little bit yesterday out in the Pendleton/Sanborn/Cambria area and most everything was bare field, I was surprised to see that they had the groomer out.

The website says they were closed yesterday?
I don’t do Facebook but that’s shitty if they post on Facebook trails are open and don’t update their website.

I live right on Bear Ridge just a little ways from Killian. They said their trails were probably open yesterday, then realized it was too thin and closed them again. They didn’t really mention much on the facebook page. Everyone is asking if they will be open and there hasn’t been an answer yet. Someone did post that they groomed the trails and there was plenty of snow. That was later in the day when we got snow with less wind. I am probably going to go out today no matter what, when are you guys going?

What kind of trade in do you get on a snowmobile for a jet ski?

I’m right on Beach Ridge, between Aiken and Meyer. I saw a facebook post about their snow drags and it said the trails were open so I assumed they were. Groomer had just been out when i was on my way home at 10, at least from Shawnee to Hebelers and down the RR tracks between Meyer and Killian, and there was by far not enough snow to ride, let alone groom.

Not too sure if I will hit the trails today but I may, if you see me out Ill be on an all black Rev long track, white and red Castle gear

Yeah their website and facebook is confusing. Definitely one of the worst websites out of all the trail systems in WNY. I’m going to give it a shot, and maybe ride toward lockport this time and see what’s it’s like that way. I’ll be on an Orange and Black XF 8000 Arctic Cat, black suit, green helmet.

EDIT: Just checked the website again and they updated it. Shawnee is open with limited conditions.

yeah, limited for sure. Its spotty, wooded and brushy sections are decent but open areas are down to frozen dirt and grass. Ill probably check it out anyways head out and grab a bite to eat somewhere.

Yeah, the woody and brushy sections are why I was thinking about riding toward lockport, since most of those trails are in the woods. We always ride toward the Marlboro, so I want something different this time.

Really not bad riding at all today. Rode from my house to the Marlboro for some wings and beer, then back through the escarpment to the trail end, turned around and headed back home. Few areas in the wide open fields where you’re riding on frozen dirt, but other areas with drifts it was perfect.

We did 50 miles on the Webster / Williamson / Canaltown trails today.

Fuck Canaltown’s trails! They are marked for shit and have no signage.
