3/4 ton ram

my dad got a new truck and is giving me his 89 3/4 ram 4x4 with a 318. the engine is on its last leg so i was going to swap it out for something bigger. its going to be mainly used for mudding and doing a little rock crawling on some trails we have in ohio. I have an old 426 hemi from a 66 satellite, i really want to use this motor but carburetors have a tendency to starve themselves when getting on steep grades. does anyone know if it would be cheaper to convert the 426 to fuel injection or just buy a newer 360 with fuel injection already?

I’m going to go out on a limb and say the 360 would be cheaper. However, look around at some offroad sites, they make carbs specifically for offroad applications that travel on uneven surfaces and steep grades.

thanks for the input, i’m definitely going to go the holley route, hopefully as soon as parts come in i’ll post a build up in the projects section.

Word, i’ll be checking out the build.

You’ll need a big block 4wd 727 if you want to put any BB or RB in there. You would be pretty dissappointed if you put a magnum 360 in there. A ported magnum headed LA, with maybe a 4. inch stoke would be very nice.

Oh, and post up some picturs of that old hemi!

i’ll be in ohio on the 8th so i’ll grab some pics then.
