Do the 350Z and G35 share the same clutch/flywheel? I haven’t looked closely at the 350Z, but my G35 has a big beefy drivetrain… everything looks straight out of a diesel truck… big thick shorty driveshaft, giant rear diff and, most notably, a flywheel that feels like it weighs a tonne. It comes with a pretty soft clutch from the factory so I’m considering replacing it along with a lighter flywheel, but I’d like to know if the 350Z feels the same way from the factory.
I don’t think the Z has the same clutch/flywheel, one is a luxury sport and the other is more performance than anything else…I may be wrong, it would be nice to know though
Most of the aftermarket clutch/flywheel assembly’s seem to be geared for both the g35/350z.It does not list them as being separate parts so I would assume that they are the same in both cars.
Yeah the aftermarket parts will be the same for both cars, as they share the same engine and tranny. I’d be surprised if the 350Z uses this clutch/flywheel though, as the heavy flywheel isn’t very conducive to quick shifts (the rev’s hang for a couple of seconds, and the engagement is really soft). I can get an OEM 350Z assembly for fairly cheap, but if it’s going to be just as soft, I’ll shell out the cash for aftermarket parts.
Yea the flywheel is heavy on both i think. It is a dual mass flywheel or something like that. SportCompactCar had the same problem with their 350Z. However i do not know if they are the same.
Having had a lot of time in the left seat in a 350z, i definately think that the 350 has a lot of rotating mass too. The revs feel like they take forever to drop back down just as you say your g35 does. I would imagine they are the same, especially considering they are the exact same power output from the factory too, im sure a lighter flywheel would make at least 1 hp difference, haha.
