48÷2(9+3)=?

Argue that faggots

ITS THE MOTHERFUCKINF WOLFRAM ALPHA FUCKING YOU BITCHES UP.

It’s poorly laid out. But in the way the equation is presented it’s motherfucking 288.

That number line really explains it, makes perfect sense now.

You need to work out what is inside the parentheses first THEN multiply.

Wrong

The Distributive Property in ALgebra:

The Distributive Property is handy to help you get rid of parentheses.

a(b + c) = ab + ac

To multiply in algebra, you’ll use the distributive law:
3x(x+4)
= 3x(x) + 3x(4)
=3x2+12x

You can use the distributive Property to multiply a polynomial by a monomial. You will expand the product of the monomial and polynomial. You can use the distributive property to divide a polynomial by a monomial. Each term is divided by the monomial. You can also use the distributive property to find the product of binomials - as shown:

(x + y)(x + 2y)
=(x + y)x + (x + y)(2y)
=x2+xy +2xy 2y2
=x2 + 3xy +2y2

Let’s try one more:
2y(y-3)-3y(y+2)
=2y2-6y-3y2-6y
=-y2-12y

Yo Rita. Stop being a woman.

I’m not going to get into arguing over this…

But first I would like to say, I FUCKING HATE MATH, but im pretty fucking good at it, and to be honest, i was suprised I was even able to remember how to figure that out, last time I had to do a problem like that was 6 years ago :rofl

Anyways, carry on, I was just amazed I could look at that and understand it

ALSO I HATE CALCULATORS. I fucking refused to use them in school, I don’t know why I just hated them I felt it made shit more complicated. There was a few formulas I hade to force my teacher to teach me so I knew how to do certain things without a Calc. I used it on really difficult long equations, but I always found Pencil to paper to be the best way to learn and practice it.

Just man up and say what you got.

Hint: how many eyes do you have if you’re not a spider.

I dident actualyl do the equation, I just looked how it was done, hold a sec and ill throw it on paper and let you know

vlad go to sleep, the answer is going to be the same when you wake up, its okay

I had to write it down on paper to remember exactly how I was taight

but this is how I was taught to do it in HS… I dont see what the big deal is?

48/2(9+3)
48/2(12) = 2x12
48/24

=2

It’s the fact that you work a problem from left to right, not right to left.

omg shady :facepalm

this is fucking retarded

Vlad’s right.

alkdnmaskldmnasdnaksjdnadkjnakdnakdnakdnakdn !!!

Well then aparently my math teacher was a retard but thats how I learned to do it…

I’m actually suprised I remembered, I kind of got excited when I saw it :rofl

If it were meant to equal 288, it would read:
(48÷2)(9+3)=?
Which it does not… so the answer is 2.

Who here majored in math?

wtf lol

it could be written several ways to = 288, and you chose that one? :rofl

I mean, it’s already written to = 288.

I’m still going with 2.

Its funny to read the thread on this on physicsforum.com, than on here :lol

Maybe it is 288…

How Do I Remember It All … ? PEMDAS !
PParentheses first
EExponents (ie Powers and Square Roots, etc.)
MDMultiplication and Division (left-to-right)
ASAddition and Subtraction (left-to-right)

For some reason I dont remember it having to be left to right I thought MULTIPLICATION always came first… but if thats wrong then it is 288…
