Looking to buy a Diesel 3/4-1 ton truck.
Long bed is a must. (8ft)
Diesel is a must.
3/4-1 ton is a must. (1 ton pref)
4x4 is a must.
Crew cab is preferred.
Mileage, I don’t care so much about.
Year, I don’t care much about either.
I’m just going to convert it to run WVO… So Something that is well/easily converted is good. Something along the lines of a Powerstroke is preferred.
But I’m not going to turn something down if it’s a good deal.
I’ll go higher on price if it’s already converted, as I’m taking the price of conversion in to my budget.

I can go a lot higher, but I’ve got to dump around 30k in my house this year, so im trying to be a little conservative.
I’ll pay cash if it’s less than 7-8k though… Otherwise I’ll grab a signature loan from my credit union… or auto loan depending on how I feel.
Not pre-approved, although I have no loans/cc debt floating around, other than a 42k mortgage… So I’m not concerned about being denied.
I would stay away from the older 6.5L and 6.2L chevys they are dogs. The Chevy/Isuzu Duramax is an amazing motor top of my list, Dodges rot faster than the rest, but do have solid motors, and if you go Ford make sure you go for a 7.3 Powerstroke, the other powerstoke motors have issues. Just the few things you should know while Diesel hunting. If I come up with one in the next few weeks I will let you know.
best bets 7.3 stroke i have a crew cab 8 foot bed with a 6speed tows a 3car wedge often without a hitch also contract plow 408,000 on it and still get 18-21mpg
if you go cummins get a 24valve and if you can tolerate driving a stick its ur best bet to find a 5 or 6 speed as dodge have notorously weak auto trannys. cummins also have a fuel pump issues loose ur high volume pump and it takes out the primary pump if not caught in time.
then we come to duramax. 2001-2004 injector eating whores $500 a piece to replace 2005+ great motors this is also the best riding truck of the bunch(very soft ride) allison trans/duramax hands down the best towing of the bunch but costly repairs.
i have the liberty of driving a variety of these trucks on a regular basis being in the transporting buisness, if you can find a clean 7.3 power stroke your doing well most reliable tride and true of the bunch. check oil pan for rot as its costly to have replaced (must disconnect everything and raise the engine about 12 inches to R+R) also if ur getting a 94-97 for get a 350 as f250 have twin ibeam front suspension not solid axle.
The pan isn’t too bad… just very costly if you have someone else do it. Doesn’t take too long to pull the motor completely and address any and all problems. You can borrow my stand if need be. It held mine fine, even when I was torquing on the head studs…
I’m looking for one with a rotted pan. Pre - 01 and you’ll have forged rods. Late 99 - 00 are the best years. I’ll end up with another one. Or my old one back actually.
I know, I should have. Was a bit more than I wanted to spend at the time though… I really liked the lift, although the more I thought about it the less practical it was.
Since most of the time it will be used for hauling stuff around, and I don’t want to really put a dozen or two drywall/ply sheets in the back of that, then try to take them off myself
Except maybe a month after you sold it, I could have sworn I saw it on the side of the road on main street maybe 2 miles down the road from mcdonalds in akron with a tow truck in front of it
I stopped regretting not buying it after I saw that
p.s.
since you said you may end up with your old one back…
you miss it i take it? :o
first one you posted is only 2wd… that second one is bad i see him toolin around hamburg often the tape job for the bed liner is kinda shotty not very smooth but prolly worth looking at its been on the market for a couple months
My old truck. I don’t know if he is selling it anymore. He is finally fixing the gem which was upsetting him enough that he wanted to sell it. And try to make money on it. lol. He drove it for 15 hours the other day with no
Problems and saved a lot in fuel so I don’t think he wants to get rid of it now.

If he is converting to veggie there isn’t a better option.
