Diesel trucks

Im thinking of trading/selling my 08 crew cab 6.4 powerstroke for a 11-13 dodge ram 3500 cummins. anyone on here have one of the newer trucks and have any feedback on them before I sell mine and make it happen? il post my craigslist link on here later if anyone’s interested. Its an f350 lariat 6ft bed, 148,000 miles, fully loaded, fully deleted and tuned, just rebuilt the front steering/suspension with new parts, new oil cooler, lifted 4 inches on 35’s, 50 inch windshield mount light bar, trucks mechanically perfect and id drive it anywhere pulling a trailer behind me.

i just bought a 14 2500 cummins and love it so far. ive only had it about 2 months though, but no complaints at all. the interior is great, i have a optioned out laramie. towing is fantastic too, usually when i tow my enclosed trailer and car its around 7000 lbs and you cant even feel it back there… the exhaust brake is a real nice feature too. a mix of city and highway the truck avgs 15.5, usually when i travel out to rochester i get around 21-22 on the highway.

overall i have no complaints, i plan on keeping this one awhile unless some other sweet deal comes up

I was on Southwestern Blvd a few years ago in my Ur. There was some FAGGOT in an R32 changing lanes like a douchecanoe. There was a Cummins Turbo pulling a loaded trailer with a skid steer, bed full of mulch, tools, etc etc. The truck out accelerated the faggots R32. I came. That’s all I got.

yeah, they can be fast haha, my 6.4 is pretty ridiculous for a lifted truck, it runs an 8.1 at Lancaster. im looking for something different and the dodges caught my eye so I might have to give it a try I just don’t want to regret it

I know a couple people with the diesel 4th gen and they all love them. My 4th gen is a half ton but it has been a pretty good truck so far. If I were to replace it with a new truck I would go with another Ram right now.

cool this is the info im looking for, more info on the truck it self not really the motor

Pretty much the same thing I would say about my wife’s 2013 2500, we love it.

its harder to find a 3500 Laramie longhorn than I though looking at the 11-13’s (seem to be in my price range) everythings a dually and idk if I wanna go that far, 22.5’s and a 4 inch lift would look good though

best advice is to get one from a non salt state. The body on the dodge trucks is not well protected and if you are willing to drive a little you will save some headachs down the road for a few years.

My dad has a 14’ Laramie 3500. Gets 23-24mpg if you go the speed limit. It’s extremely comfortable and a lot more softer riding than the new Silverado. Has 10k on it now and hasn’t had any problems other than the starter didn’t work as soon as he bought the truck lol. It’s a really nice truck and I wish I would have gotten a couple year old one instead of my 15’ Silverado.

No 3/4-1 ton truck is getting 24mpg… I don’t care what anyone says…

I have the same truck (08-6.4) and love it. I have been doing some research and the new 6.7 cummins motors are being called the cummins 6.0… they are having head gasket and other issues similar to the old ford 6.0. If it were me I would do a new 6.7 ford or duramax…

Please… Sell me your 50" lightbar and bracket setup before you put the truck up for sale!

Truth.

My duramax express 2500 gets 22.6 mpg on the display at 70mph… but if you math out it is actually 18-19 with a DPF delete, dirty air filter, 2 ladders and over 200K… but hey it has 400 hp so who cares… oh wait if you actually calculate all the costs a 6.0 gas is actually cheaper to operate in my situation. I do not tow for work.

Other than reverse band dumping on my trans (4L85E in the van not allison) I have on 0 issues with my 09 duramax

That’s what the display says.

the cummins is the only 3/4 ton you can get with a true manual transmission, i’ll be buying one this fall.

PS, the frames were upgraded in 2013, and i believe they went with a coil suspension in the rear around that time too.

We have some buses with the Cummins in them. They fucking blow. Although the motor is a bit different than what you will get in a pickup, I still think it says something about the company itself.

I have been hearing this about the new 6.7 there using, I take it you work on them everyday? what are some more “common” issues your seeing?

Turbo at 6k, injectors on a different one at 9k, Ghost codes sense day one. I have to create a code so I can clear the light. The fleet side is a bit different from what you will get in a pickup.

To the OP, just curious how has the 6.4 been? Why get rid of it? Truck getting crusty or?
