45-55 starting off teaching? I dunno about all that, i drink with a teacher thats been teaching for about 8 yrs now and makes around 50k
your friend must be in a shoddy school district. my friend started at 55k at ellenville school district down by me…

it depends on the school district. but if i started at 40k i better be living in NC because 40k up here isn’t that much.

based on the district/union they are affiliated with and your degree level helps too.
and you need your masters in order to teach… 6 years of school to make 45K… DAMN!
you only need your masters for certain things. You can be a teacher without it.
most schools require you to acheive your masters after X years to maintain your job.
if you ever want to be a principal, or department head you need a masters. but when thats your chosen profession manximum education helps everywhere
