Anybody know of a source other then HD for some 6-2 romex? i need about 55 feet for my welder circuit, and HD has it for 1.78 per foot… but you can buy spools of 125 feet for ~ 139 dollars…
Does anybody need any and would perhaps want to go in 50/50 or know if any electrical supplies places have it by the foot for cheaper?
Call around to a bunch of the electrical supply houses. Look them up in the yellow pages. You might be able to save some cash. Is this for a 240V line? If so, it seems awfully big. 6 AWG will carry 100 amps a leg at 55 feet. 10 AWG will carry 50A a leg at 55 ft. (based on a 3% voltage drop). How much juice does your machine suck? I’m not 100% sure, but I think your neutral needs to be insulated as well. So that means you need X-3 wire, not X-2 as you mentioned.
I believe you, was just surprised. I honestly only have a 50amp for mine because that’s what was already run in my garage. I’ve yet to pull enough current to trip the breaker though, but Miller recommended an 80amp just to stay safe.
