^ short box, auto, and already at $5700.

I stopped looking because I got tired of calling on trucks only to hear “It sold weeks ago and I was too lazy to take the ad down” or “I took a deposit, if it falls through I’ll call you” or “I put that price on the ad to get interest, I really want double that”

Yeah, that one obviously has a “wow factor” because of who is selling it. I just thought it was a nice looking truck. Reminds me a lot of Raf’s truck. I loved that thing!

Damn these sell so well

Look no further.

Finally got my hands on one that was worth buying. I looked at WAY too many 800-1200 rot boxes and scored this texas truck for $1800.

1972 F-250 Camper special. 390 Big Block and C-6 auto, both were supposedly rebuilt about 8-10yrs ago and only driven 1500-2000 miles per year since then. I plan to sell the eng/trans combo, the newly reconditioned rear end, and the 500 mile old tires/rims package to fund a 4.6 24v engine with t5 manual trans and crown vic front suspension swap. I’ll probably leave the body/paint as-is a year or so before I have time to pull the cab and box off for a nice paint job.

Sweet. I look forward to updates.

This is a great bump @focusinprogress.

Awesome Nick! Glad to see you finally found one that suits your needs.

that’s really cool how you can use stuff off the Panther platform to update the mechanicals on this thing. I assume your plan is to buy a cheap P71 and tear it apart? Looks like a fun project!

I will be the first asshole to say “LS swap” but I know you’re a Ford guy so no harm done if you enjoy it

What’s the plan for use? Street/strip? Just a cool street cruiser that can haul your bikes?

honestly I would absolutely LS swap it, but for the money I can’t swing it vs. the ford gear. A t56 would cost more than the entire build plan using all junkyard shit. I can get a complete front end from an 03+ crown vic for like $120 at M&M, expedition disc break LSD rear for about $80, and a 4.6 from hopefully a p71 car then find a t5 in there too. Mustang wheels is probably going to happen, too.

the plan is just drive the fucking thing. It’s a really common swap/project what I’m doing…most guys are seeing anywhere from 23-25mpg with this combo which is 10mpg better than my 2012 f150 that I pay a $300/mo payment on…my lease is up in may so I am hoping to have the swap done by then to replace truck duties with this. Def. going to do some undercarriage work and such next fall and drive it through winter. snows and weight in the bed should do just fine for my needs.

 to old trucks

i say keep the rack on it

@GV1390, that’s about the stance it’ll have with the Crown Vic front end and a flip-kit on the rear…I am super amped about it.

I’m def keeping the ladder rack, prob not permanently but I’ll remove it and keep it around for kayak duty and the yearly haul to Vintage Motorcycle days…figured I needed a period-correct truck to match my pile of crappy motorcycles.

^ +1, farm truck style.

as long as it rips burnouts and it’s loud I’m sure it will be an awesome truck. I really like the patina on it.

Congrats!
