It is just breaking now, so no report of damage yet. That is a pretty nasty powerful quake though.

Yeah, and it also apparently generated a 9 ft Tsunami according to cnn.
Looks like there might be a lot of damage.
We have a Tsunami warning here. Not good. I really hope this doesn’t hurt a lot of people.

Wow and this after a 6.6 in Okinawa yesterday.
Yes, I know. The news channels here have been going nonstop on this. Sirens are going to start going off at 6am. I’m in one of the evacuation zones too. I’ll likely be in the mountains biking some trails around that time anyhow.
Part of me wants to go paddle out on the surfboard, though. 
A 7.7 foot tsunami has already hit areas around Chile. No one knows at this point how high it could be when it reaches Hawaii, but definitely take this seriously.

The sirens just started going off. Very eerie. I might go sit on top of one of the restaurants with my camera when it starts rolling in. I doubt I’ll see much of anything here in Waikiki, though.

Fiji is expecting some 7’ hits. I still haven’t heard any estimates of height for Hawaii.
