'86 Trans Am...

Well guys the day finally has come, I drove my car last night and I am happy!

Bought the car that was sitting in heated garage for 8 years with no engine and transmission 4 years ago. Found a WC T-5 2 years ago for it. Rebuilt the engine and got it running in February last year. Lots of vibrations under normal driving conditions. WOT it felt fine. Fuel pump died on the maiden voyage. Replaced it. Driving home from my dad’s house after fixing the fuel pump the radiator disintegrated, but I made it back to my house. I then bought a Griffin radiator for it and was good to go. I raced it at Beaver Run march last year in 20 degree weather. Car ran well, and handle really well with the 10+ year old Koni Reds and new tokiko springs. The vibrations though were too much to ignore. I found the driveshaft was bent so I got a LS1 aluminum, THANKS PEWTER! Unfortunately that wasn’t the problem, it was something with the rotating assembly. Pulled the clutch and pressure plate, pulleys, off the engine. Still vibrating.

I ended up pulling the engine and taking the rotating assembly back to the shop who balanced it. With it being a 400 SBC it is externally balanced. Plus I was using a 350 flywheel, so something got messed up somewhere. The shop fixed everything for free, balanced my pressure plate and pinned the flywheel. Last night was the first night the car was off jackstands since March. It drives down the road smooth as silk now! It was a pleasure to drive!. However, the heater core gave out! LOL

I want to thank Mike01GSR and Bald1one who helped me on most of my journey. Also thanks goes out to Howard and Bill who helped me when available!

Last nite was a good nite. It’s going to be a runner that’s for sure (long as the roads are dry…lol). I know jeremy is itching to beat down some of the imports around here so I’m sure this thread will be updated often. Congrats man was good to see a smile on your face, you deserve it!

Ill be the first volunteer to wipe that fire chickens ass haha!! the V8EATER will feed again  No for real though im excited to see the car off of jacks stands and moving under its own power again. I dont think ive seen you this happy since you had your last kid…miserable prick…lol! Nothin can replace that smile on your face when you started it for the first time, you looked like a little boy that just discovered porno for the first time LOL! Seriously though Im happy for ya man, and Im sure we will be raisin hell now that we all have our cars pretty much done! O and for all you Butler haitin people on this forum, I agree we do not live in a very desireable town, but we have a lot of fast cars  and that makes it worth while.
