hey guys, having trouble getting this integra running. The fuel pump isnt getting a signal to run when the car starts. I have checked the main relay and tested that via manual instructions and all is good with the main relay. All fuses are good, but still reading no voltage at the pump, and now the gauge wont work at all(which it previously did). No voltage going through those wired either. Im planning on spending some time working on this tomorow as my rooommate(eric416) has no car right now since his tranny fell apart last night. Any help is greatly appreciated. If anyone who is experienced with wiring wants to stop by and help, beers are on us. I live in amherst, thanks guys.
anyone???
so nobody had ANY suggestions?
trace the harness for breaks in the wires or wearing on the casings, thats usually the case, either that or it sounds like your sending unit is bad, esp. if the gauge stopped working.
well i know its not the sending unit, previously i got strong amount of voltage coming through the wire TO the sending unit, now i got nothing going to it. and still no power going to the pump, pump is what im mostly worried about, the car just needs to start running
then its a problem in the wiring itself between the pump and the source, either that or the relay, which you said you checked. if it was me id try a new relay anyway, they are only like $9 and you could probably take it back if it doesnt solve your problem
its the main relay, im pretty sure its like 50 bucks, i followed the instructions in the shop manual on how to test it, jumped the points with a 12v source and checked for continuity, did that on all pins that the instructions said to. seemed fine. i just dont know wat the deal is and why this gauge stopped working suddenly while i was working on the car
sounds like the problems me and 95accordVtec were havving on his car, he had ALL SORTS of weird wiring going on, seems common on hondas when they start to wear out. his gauges all stopped working one by one, we are STILL trying to re-wire and ttrace the problems and its been almost a year since we started working on the car. GOOD LUCK findint the problem. just check all the fuses/relays…ALL OF THEM. once those are all fine and it still dont work, trace the harness starting at the cluster and make sure everything is plugged in, we found ALOT of unplugged stuff on the accord you’d be surprised. maybe test the wire AFTER the relay to see if there is power there. hondas are wierd with wiring
im not even worried about the gauges not working tho, thats the least of my problems, number one problem is that the fuel pump is not running, im gonna start there, see wat happens, let ya know
when did it stop working? while driving? maybe your power wire grounded out
also check spark and such to make sure its just a fuel problem
checked spark its just fuel, ummm ur gonna find this funny but the car ran(poorly)when my roommate and i bought it. so we decided to jump it and try and start it. turns out the dude had put new terminals on, but neglected to tell us that he put a red terminal on the ground side, so of course we put the jumper cables on quickly and carelessly and and went to crank it, immediately the main fuse fried. so as im writing this i think that i figured out we may have completely fried the ground wires. goin out to check on those now. be back with updates when i find more
would I just have to trace the power wire and check for damage and wearing?
alright, me and eric416 just spent some time out there , all wires have good continuity going to the pump. the instructions to test the relay had 3 pts where u had to test the rela with power going in. so i tested the harness for the three pts to see if power was going in. found that one of them only read .06 volts, so this must be the one with the problem. I traced this wire back to the ecu, opened the ecu and tested the contact pt on the ecu and got the same .06 vlts. this wire also has good continuity. So im thinking this is my problem and now need an ecu to swap and test with. Can anyone help me out with this?
ROFL @ intense98rt…nice allusion to the project neon there lol…
sounds like you might be on the right track, nice detective work, but trace the WHOLE harness now because of that messed up jump-thing you were talking about. there is a good chance in doing that you fried the ECU. hopefully you can locate a cheap replacement or borrow one to test it. the reason joe said what he did is a ground wire on HIS car had the casing on it worn out and it grounded to the frame and melted an assload of wiring harness, actually a similar thing happened to me and im currently tracing melted wires for a week now. good luck and keep us updated on what you find/dont find so we can continue to help you pinpoint the problem.
ehhh all the wires had continuity so theyre not grounded out, also the main fuse fried as soon as it happened. gonna get the ecu and see wat happens next
strange quesiton…but is this teg gold by any chance?
nah its blue and actually its an 87 i was wrong about the year. anyone know if an 88-89 ecu will work on this car? i was told by someone that 87 is pre-obd and it wont work. guess we will find out when i get the ecu, haha
jumper wire see if it turns on
-
if you jumper the main relay like it says in the manual you should be able to prime the pump or here it turn on. So the vehicle should start.
-
check your grounds, battery to firewall, 2 seperate 2wire (total 4 wires)grounds going to thermostat housing.wothout these the vehicle will not start.
-
Any CEL??? try pulling the codes and if you cant then sounds like ecu.
-
SOLID CEL means bad chip/ecu.
-
Blown injector resistor box, check resistance, should say in manuel. I believe somewhere around 7-10 ohms. check power leading to resistor box.
-
Recheck all fuses, under dash and under hood. Check the main fuse under hood, not just the ecu fuse under the hood.
Do all these first and let us know. Then i will let you know of more, but more than likely its sometyhing your overlookin.
hmm blue 87 teg…thats def my old car haha…you will need an 86-87 ecu the 88-89 is different…its a very reliable car once you get it running…i promise,if you need anymore help check out www.g1teg.org good luck
