93 Rx7 Ls2 Project.

ppl have seen over 1k doing it this way. yes the 4" end cap would be ideal but for effort the reducer works just as well.

To be honest, I’m not looking to squeeze every last bit of HP out of this thing I can. It’ll have more than plenty.

What do you think guys, open wastegates or feed them back into the downpipe?

haha, I like open and seeing how cramped the setup would be, I suggest them.

open nets more power. i got tired of the loudness so i ran it back and installed a muffler on the wastegate. I ran a 60mm gate on my previous setup

i got mine dumped back in the downpipe. I’d only run it open if you dont have the room to plumb it back to the downpipe. My setup was abit tight but i got it to work. Was major pita to build it to get the flanges to all line up but it worked out.

dont forget it can create backpressure in the DP. Something you might think about yourself

Good point, i have heard that as well and thats another thing on my list of possible problems. The way mine enter the pipe tho it should flow well with the rest of the exhaust stream since it all points in the same direction. Now i need lots of testing time and change one thing at a time to see what solves the possible issues i have. First things first is my converter.

No it doesn’t, unless your return tube goes clear into the exhaust pipe. And don’t reply with some gay comment about backpressure from the return tubes either, I’m tired of reading that word from your posts.

cant we all just get along!

It kinda makes sense that there could be a disturbance in airflow as wastegate pressure should be higher than after turbine pressure in the exhaust pipe. I have read some builds that have gone faster after disconnecting wastegate tubes from the downpipe but there also is a certain length the pipe should be from the turbine exit for best performance too.

its been proven over and over again, open gate gains power vs dumping it back into the DP.

Well, progress has been slow. Between a big house warming party, 2+ feet of snow, birthday parties… and it being so damn cold I havent done much.

Modifying the stock subframe for the viper diff. Lots of measurements were taken to get it in the right place.

I’ve added some more side supports, and i’ll make it look prettier later.

Everything mounted up… unfortunately I might have to redo the hotside piping… it’s just too damn close.

imo those ccw’s would look better with painted spokes. black or gunmetal.

sick man awesome project

looks really good man !

Thanks guys.

Any suggestions for header/merge pipe coatings. I decided to scrap the truck headers because i’m worried my welds are gonig to crack and I had to cut one of the ports off because it was hitting on the brake booster. i’m building my own because why not at this point.

AMF does ceramic coating but as a warning all of the coatings come off if in any weather from what i have experienced. can wrap them has had best results that way for keeping heat down

Wrapped and insulated my engine bay and no real problems. It gets HOT in here for sure, but the wrap helps alot and alot of the heat sheild materials help too.

What are you doing for oil drain on that turbo? seems very low mount, can it still drain to the pan or are you going to drop into a mini sump and pump back to motor?

Pulling the engine, needle bearings on the oil drain plug… pulled the valve covers holy shit…
