SHREK - Starting over

If at first you don’t succeed start over. My first try was a GSR block, CP pistons, Eagle rods, running a T67 Full Race turbo kit. I had told my engine builder I wanted to double up both sets of my valve springs so I could rev to ITR specs with my ITR cams and he only swapped out the one side leaving the exhaust side with single springs. I didn’t know enough at the time to check his work and got tuned for 8750 RPMs, car ran good for a few weeks until the turbo started leaking oil. After not being able to get it rebuilt for less then the price of a new turbo I ordered a new GT35R. Didn’t know there was a CFM difference and went on thinking things were ok. Took it to the track and dropped a valve which destroyed my head and continued on out the turbo killing it. I was going to give it all up but decided I had finally started to understand to much of what was going on to give up. I didn’t like the turbo being so low with the Ram horn manifold so I picked up a AFI top mount. I was always worried the turbo didn’t have enough line to drain properly. I also didn’t like that the turbo feed right into the back of the intercooler, not enough freedom to flex. I think the RPMs is what did me in but Im sure the engine was leaning out and running hotter with the new turbo contributing to the valve failure.

While the engine was at the machinist I decided Id strip it down and fix the rust and change the color, also thought it was a good a time as ever to get a roll bar installed

oh and i meant why is shrek getting started over, not the reasoning for the shifter haha :stuck_out_tongue:

i guess i could see how the positioning of the shifter at a level point for your elbow to be a straight 90 could be an advantage
