Toluene is actually very clean and much better than other octane boosters. Just mix in 10% per volume of automatic transmission fluid and you’re good to go. The tranny fluid will help prevent any dried out seals or fuel lines.
I have used acetone, because I couldn’t find toluene.
Hell man, I was just in a paint store in the west end and they had it on sale. It’s in the stripmall thing beside WEM. (Glidden paints?) I think 946ml was about $6 or so.
For anyone who wants to buy 94 octane at the pump, the Husky’s address is 15303 73A Street. The pumps have four grade selections: 87, 89, 92, 94.
94 is $0.02/L more than 92, which makes it $0.12/L more than the posted price for regular. Only one problem, all of the grades share the same hose, and might share some plumbing inside the pump, too.
I’ll try another Glidden paints soon.
And probably all the octanes are from the same tank!! LOL :?
