there is 94 octane gas at the husky across the street from gateway toyota. i just drove by on my way home.
I find I get the worst gas mileage on the Husky 94… :?
Why would you use that on an NA?
the st albert husky has it now too
What the hell do you need 94 octane for? :butthead:
My Z enjoyed Husky’s 94 at 15psi of boost. I have heard mixed reviews from others though. Some like it, some don’t.
I am new to all this so I’m gonna ask a stupid ?..isn’t 91 octane enough? Or do boosted engines require more to keep knock down? Doesn’t higher octane make fuel ignite under higher compression?
Nevermind, I found a good link that explains it well
ummm even thou my cars na i find i get better gas mileage by about 20km a tank and thats constantly comapred to 92 at huskey. i dunno why i throw 94 in but i just feel better when i do haha so maybe i’m just pretending to have a boosted car :E
Octane level isn’t the only thing you should be looking at in the qualities of your fuel. I have heard not so good stories about the 94 at Husky, in that their properties are worse off for some vehicles that the typical 91 or whatever found at other stations. Something to look into.
Either has to do with it be ethanol based or leaded or some shit.
whoa. do some reading. Ethanol blended fuel isn’t bad for ANY car.

it’s better for you and the environment:

For those who didn’t know, Super Premium 94 Octane is just 91 Octane with a 10% Ethanol blend, raising the octane rating to 94 by adding iso-octane (100% Octane) to dilute the 9% of Heptane. (100 - 9) = 91% Octane. 91 rating.
there was proposed legislation in MB that all our fuel will be 10% ethanol by sept 2005, but i dont thiink it went thru

Some info about Ethanol:
http://www.ethanol-crfa.ca/ethanol/terms.htm
Ethanol blended fuel is better for the environment, but poor on the wallet. The blend gives you worse fuel milage as compared to non blended fuel, and is more expensive to produce.

I saw this long ago when fueling up at mowhawk stations. I noticed that a tank of mowhawk gas seemed to run out sooner then a tank from Shell for example. I really don’t see how it would be harmful to a vehicle.
Whatever the properties are, I have heard that it isn’t that good. The higher octane level is good, but there is something else. Apparently it burns a lot hotter than other fuels.
I don’t read.
i get better mileage and less heat using esso 91 than mohawk 94 and its cheaper but a little bit
I have never noticed temperature before but i get SLIGHTLY worse milage on 94. But on a plus side i do not ping at 14 psi. i can hear slight detonation on 91 in a fourth gear pull around 5 grand. So i use it all the time.
well the short of it is that ethanol is a mild detergent (since it’s alcahol) it tends to wash away deposits of carbon and crap in your motor. a small oil leak or bad gasket will become very apparent, but it isn’t the fuel that’s eating your engine, it’s the crap that it’s washing out.
i didn’t find the article, but on the average people see about 9% less fuel economy.
