what type of gas?

just wondering what kind of gas everyone uses? i have tried shells, v-power and bronze, don’ notice a diff? i have 240xxx kms should i use one over the other?

94 oct husky on calgary trail or in a pinch 91 oct esso

I found the 94 Oct at Husky didn’t really make much of a diff as opposed to the 91 oct from Petro Canada. I’ve heard this from a couple people also. I just use the 91 Octane from Petro.

not fair you have a friggin turbo, which you still have’nt taken me for a ride yet, lol

Haha, one of the meets in the Spring/Summer I’ll take you for a go. Kinda sucks right now cuz roads are so wet/icy.

V-Power. . .unless it’s not around, some other 91 octane gas :partyman:

You car is a 11yr old 4 door sadan… 87 Octain from anywere will be fine. I think 91 octane would be a waste in your car. Also 94 Octane from Husky has Ethonol in it which burns hotter. Not sure if this is a problem or not. The Spec V has fuel mapping for up to 92 Octane

ok cool, just was’nt sure if i would benifit

The shell here sells the V-power the same price as the bronze.

SO your saying that with age and a car that has 4 doors need crappy gas? That makes sense, oh wait no it doesnt. It appears that if a question in the FWD chat isnt about B15 Sentras everyone just gives some lame ass answers…

The Altima KA24 has a knock sensor so if it senses knock from low grade fuel or for any other reason it will retard timing…Hence put in what the manual says.

Im not a guru i just give the correct answer when i know the answer. And i had to do a repot on octane ratings about 3 months ago and i analyze gasoline samples every week too.

Manual says 87 Octane (Regular)

I use 89 Octane Esso and get a bit better fuel mileage…

yah i tried all 4 types in my car, 87-94 and tried to drive around the same style (which is never perfect but i tried) and i found def better gas milage with 91 and 94, not much better with 94 but only a little (so prob drove a little calmer) but who knows. With 87 i had about 20-30 less a tank the couple of times i tried it, and i found i get the least knock on my safc from 91 shell octane gas. with 87 i get higher knock while idling.

so this is what i’ve found just from experimenting, but i didn’t want to run 87 to often casue it says run ‘premium’ in the qr25. but thats all i’ve found

you get the most power on the lowest octane you can run without knock

High octane’s only benefit is it greator threshold against knock

per mL there is more potential energy in 87 than 91

All I ever run is Chevron 94… by the way, new in calgary… Where are the chevron stations? Or does that… not exist here. (Asking because some dude in Banff thought I was a douche for asking if they had a chevron station in town)

there is 1 Chevron Station in Edmonton just off the Yellowhead and 170th. It’s a Truck stop with pumps. Not sure if they have 91+

i am no chemist but for boosted vehicles husky’s ethanol blended 94 looks like the best option, ethanol is an alcohol and people run pure methanol and ethanol injections on high boost motors for a reason.

I dono about that, I tried 94 chevron and the car ran like crap.

Shell V-Power 91 is far superior.

thats more then likely in your head that you got better fuel mileage…

and its recomended that as your engine gets older, you should put a higher octane in…

and the car gets older and more carbon builds up its does not desipate heat as well, causing dedonation…

if you can do it often, throttle body spray can reduce this build up…

i use it every 2 weeks, and some times i use a bottle of DISTILLED water and lightly spray water into the throttle body and that is the best type of combustion chamber cleaner you can get… its like a steam cleaning for your pistions and valves
