95 eclipse dropout motor

i might have a chance buying a 95 eclipse (non turbo) with a blown motor, cheaply. where could i get a dropout motor cheap? i’d probably just put a new motor in this car then sell it. how much do you guys think a dropout motor would cost?

probably pretty cheap since they’re not really sought after

Doubtful that your going to get more then 2grand for a 95 non turbo. Its probly not worth your time.

what if i can get the car for 400 bucks?

Get it running, this ricer kid with a silver one that goes by my house about 20x a night will probably wreck his soon and need a new one.

is that a 420a motor? and also, is it the same as a neon motor? I always wondered that…

i put one in my brothers eclipse a few years ago, i believe they are the same…

from what i’ve read, yes the 420a is the same motor as certain neons

The basic block and crank assembly is the same, just about everything else on the eclipse is different.

so 2 yes and 1 no . . . interesting

no they’re not the same

the eclipse n/a motor goes for an easy 800-1k from a wrecker. motors are hot sellers.

best bet is to find one via private party.

and the car itself, i could see if getting 4k. look at how many girls want that car, and parents buy it for them.

I think the intake/exhaust manifolds are backwards if im not mistaking. The neons have the exhaust manifold on the back of the motor. Where as the eclipse has it on the front.

That’s correct, the ports and chambers on the head are mirrored, and the manifolds are completely different.

Short blocks are identical. Heads are where the difference is. The head on the Neon is reversed from the Eclipse. Otherwise all is the same down to the tranny. Only difference are the 95 Neons that came with the Non-modular clutches.

Are the eclipse clutches cable operated?

the turbo models arne’t so i dont’ see why the non turbos would be

No they are Hydraulic, the difference in the 95 Neon is that the clutch is non-modular. The rest are all modular.

Ok, neons have a cable clutch, so a bellhousing swap would be in order to use one on the other. The rest aren’t all modular, as '96-99 cars built in Mexico were non-modular.

booooooo yaaaaaaaa :bigok:
