95d16turbo's ls vtec build

looking good.

Did you check for main bore distortion with the ARP studs torque to spec?

Also wondering what piston to wall clearance you plan on running with what brand pistons?

Main & rod bearing clearance? stock replacement bearings or ACL race bearings?

all the engine building at school. everything else at home

thanks man

question 1: yeah, checked them up and down, side to side, and diagonally. all checked out good.

question 2: wiseco pistons 9.7:1 compression. dont remember off hand of the piston to wall clearance, but i do still have all the measurements. i can get back to you on that.

question 3: also dont remember the numbers off hand, but i wanna say somewhere around 5 ten thousanths. ill get the numbers just to be sure.
ACL race bearings and clevite race bearings.

so i cant decide whether or not i want to run a top mount or a ram horn turbo manifold.

any input?

did you get the block bored before or after the block guard was installed

if your going to install it you should atleast do it the right way and install it approximately 1/2" below deck height

and why do you keep asking for input when your not taking any experience advice from anyone here?

according to the directions from supertech, it said 1.3mm from the deck height.

thanks though.

i consider the advice. if your talking about the block guard and the main stud b.s. i checked the line bore with the stock bolts and the main studs, and no difference. as for the block guard, i checked the bore, honed it, installed the block guard, checked it again, final honed it and installed the pistons.

thanks though

ya sorry i had a pissy day, i deleted it hoping you wouldnt see it lol

good luck with everything and manifold depends on spool characteristics, top mount will give you slowest spool and more top end, ram horn will give you decent spool and good top end, and log will give best spool with lowest power output (depending … inline-pro is very proven to work awesome and is a log style manifold)

thats alright, shit happens.

but thanks man, this is what i was looking for. i originally wanted to go ram horn, until a friend of mine told me i should go top mount. just wanted to see if anyone knew what the best design would.

for a street car a ramhorn is great, for overall ease of working on cars a top mount is absolutely wonderful

for the best of both worlds a gt30/g35r with tial exh housing makes working on the car 100x’s easier

this is 4 years old, but everything is true still…

hope this helps

yeah, 35r is a little out of budget for me.
thanks for the input man.

awesome. thanks man.
deffinately think im goin with the ramhorn now.

that sounds dirty mat:)

theres all different kinds, you can go with the fullrace one, peakboost makes one as well, im sure other companys do too, i think AFI may make one i have no clue.

But i do know that peakboost and fullrace have lifetime warranties, the peakboost is 699$ new for a t3 where as the full race is 999 i think. i dont know how much the flow characteristics differ tho…

Afi> fullrace> peakboost.

all 3 are decent manifolds. Afis are prob going to be the most expensive but worth it. I dont know too much about fullrace but i Know a few guys on here making really good power on peakboosts and have had no issues.

or if u wanna be fuckin baller lol
