97 900 turbo front strut question

hey im a fellow saab owner with a 97 saab 900 turbo, i have a question for you guys, im planning to do front strut inserts on it soon because one of the struts are leaking pretty good. my question is once i have the spring off how is the insert held into the strut housing, and how to take it out? is it just a sleeve nut right at the top of the housing where you see the strut insert at the top? thanks for reading any help i would appreciate.

Hey man. Yes, there is the nut on the tube, but NG900 were notorious for them rusting the tubes and the nuts together. So if the nut wont come off or the tube is rusted it wouldn’t be a surprise. be carefull with the heat if you use it OR drill a small hole in the bottom of the tube into the strut and let the oil come out. then you can use a little more heat without concern of it taking your limbs off when it explodes. anything else, give us a shout DC

thank you. much appreciated
