A big  and a big  to 2 different vendors...

I’d like to close with the good, so I’ll start with the bad.

Vendor: KWIKWIRE
Product: 14 circuit chassis wiring harness.

When I ordered this harness, the description from kwikwire stated that it came with detailed instructions. When I got it, all it had was instructions on how to wire it in to GM cars, no schematic, just a basic list of wires and what pins to hook them to on GM plugs. Obviously this is of little help to me, Wiring this into a modern EFI car is a bit different, and I need a schematic of the harness, not text.

However, at the back of the book, there is a nearly complete schematic of the harness, however, it’s scaled down to the point where you can’t read it. No big deal, I’ll just call them. Here’s where it starts getting interesting…

So the woman I speak to on the phone, tells me that they cannot release the schematic to anyone for copyright purposes. This blows my mind, because I just spent 300 dollars with them. Their “lawyers” were the ones who urged them to scale it down to the point where it was illegible, so no one could copy it.

I tell them that never in all my life as a mechanical engineer, have I ever purchased a product and not received a schematic. I was blown away. She was adamant that it was strictly for copyright purposes. They said they were very concerned about things getting sent to china and cloned.

At this point, I was annoyed, but having been in the situation, I understand that a small company has to do what it can.

Then it got really interesting…

She told me that the company does give out the schematic, but only if I pay 20 dollars.

This is what made me REALLY MAD.

So they’ve already got 300 of my dollars, and now they want to CHARGE me to give me the information I need to use it?

It’s not about protecting themselves at all! If this was my MO, I could call up and ask for the schematic, having never bought a harness, pay 20 dollars and send it to china to get cloned. Yet here I am, having already spent 300 dollars with them, have an actual part IN HAND that I could send out to get cloned, and the have the audacity to ask me for 20 dollars (plus shipping) more for the rest of the instructions? They said that “it costs money to print, and we don’t send anything electronically”.

FUCK THEM. I will never, ever buy something from them again, and I hope you don’t either.

Nav,
The GTR coil cover came in today. The box was in pretty good shape but there is a crack on the front, near the oil cap where it “humps” up to match the rocker cover. It’s about an inch long and pretty visible. I will try and get a picture to you, but is there anything we can do?

Maybe this is just how CS should be, but I was delighted at the way this went down. The crack wasn’t even that big, I was SURE he was going to give me a hard time, but he didn’t. At all. All this went down in less than 5 hours, too.

:tup::tup::tup::tup::tup:

 to companies knowing how to take care of their customers to keep them coming back. to retards.

yea, ive had me fair share as well. However the one companythat stands out in my mind for great customer service is lightning force performance.

I called them and told them I purchased a set of injectors from them a few months back and was just getting around to installing them when i realized they sent me the wrong harness clips. they told me they have a new injector with the correct clips that just came out and they will send me a set. So with no money outta my pocket they sent me another set of injectors and told me to return the old ones when i get a chance. WOW. i didnt expect that.

Now there is umnitza, yea im not getting into that one.lol

lol, newman you should order a set of schematics and then give them a shipping address in china.lol

So did you end up buying the schematic? If so, I’d be posting that thing on every forum I could find, maybe even throw it up on an angelfire website and spam some Chinese manufactures with it.

Nope, I’m going to draw the schematic myself… then post it. LOL.

Awesome CS from the 2nd guy, sadly that’s more rare than you’d think :frowning:

^Yes.

That sucks about the Schematic. Thank god there are some (Very few) good places still out there.

I ordered my new wheels from Z1 Performance in St. James, NY. Great Customer Service. I even got some free shit with my order.

I also get good treatment from Reids right here in West Seneca.

what a bout painless wiring?

 to the second vendors CS

i got a 20 some circuit universal harness off ebay when i rewired my truck. cost about 150 was a hot rod kit. had about 3 or 4 books and how to wire it up gm dodge etc. had like 25 ft of wire for each light and whatnot. was an excellent kit imo. you got boned on your kit.:biglaugh:

awesome customer service on the cover, my worst customer service experience was with pelican parts. had about 8 phonecalls and 3 different people until they finally sent me a new window trim piece because the original one they sent was bent in two places. finally the second one came but it had one crease. so i said f it never ordering from them again.

Time to sand down the spare CF cover and paint it some nutty color or do some cool pattern on it or something. And of course, post great reviews for the company in your build thread…

Maybe, but i was trying to support a US company, not some shitty chinese one.

And once I get it sorted it will be less likely to catch fire.

I can sand down the OEM one and do a nutty color. I’m gonna keep the cracked one bare CF as a spare.

Nice. They are local to me. I have dealt with them in person. They seem like decent people.

posted teh kwikwire review on hotrodders.com, feel free to email them a link if you wish

http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/friends-review-kwikwire-brand-chassis-wiring-kit-163672.html#post1158552

and also, if you do email them the link and they get pissy about it, the owner of hotrodders.com makes a serious habit of telling companies to go fuck themselves.

they can feel free to search HR.com to see what jons response was for gasmonkey garage, streetbeasts, power tv, coker tire and NUMEROUS other companies. Jon does NOT loose free speech battles

and that is why company #1 will never be heard of again in a year and #2 will be here when our grand kids are modding cars

nice!

with the bad one you can cover it with decals / words that say skyline or newman, then spray it, and then remove them and have it say it in CF?

even better is that the owner of HR.com is viewing the tread right now, lol. im sure he will have something to say about it.
