I wanted to let you know that the venue that was hosting our benefit closed, permanently, last week. They never told us. My brother in law and I happened to go there last Friday to scope it out and decide where to put tables, baskets, etc and found out from the staff that they were closed.
We found another location already. The Ramada Hotel and Conference Center of Amherst at 2402 N. Forest Road, Getzville, 14068 has given us their facilities to use. They have even said that we can use either the grand ballroom or their outdoor tent and patio and we can make the decision the day before based on the weather. Really great people!"
Same date and time for the event. I still have tickets for sale and forgot to corner 1whiningstang (2turboz) and Xander when I was at C and C on Sunday.
Now begging for some help from fellow nyspeeders. I just had a quick meeting with Benny and his mom and ticket sales for the upcoming benefit event are “alarming”. She’s sold nowhere near the amount she needs to and I’m trying to step up and help with that. I’m willing to meet anyone anywhere to help move these for her. Please, let me know if anyone can help us out. It’s important. Thanks guys (and girls).
Are any of the personalities/entertainers promoting this? With the list on the website you would think they could move a ton of tickets. Doesn’t Channel 2 love promoting this kind of thing? Do they need to sell like 100 tickets or like 500 tickets? Just wondering.
I asked her that same question and it doesn’t appear she’s getting much help from anyone in the media. I also don’t know how she’s going about it either so that could play a part. I do know she’s working very hard at this and I could see the tears forming on her eyes this morning like “we’ve put all this work into the event, and no one’s bought any tickets.” I would hate to picture a venue all set up with tons of food and such and 15 people showing up. It would crush her / them. As much as I have no involvement in facebook, maybe someone could mention it on their facebook “whatever” and get it into the pipeline and start some interest.

I’m planning on attending Cars and Coffee on Sunday morning and will be bringing tickets with me so if I know you personally, be forewarned that I will be approaching you to purchase at least one ticket. I’d like to think many of you would like to help as I try to help out members here. I know most people have plans and won’t be able to go, but if you can, there’s going to be a buttload of food and they have scheduled a band for entertainment.
Our company has also put together a wheelbarrow loaded with brand new tools and other items which will be raflled off at the event. Tickets for this and the larger ticket items will be $ 5.00 / ea. or 5 for $ 20.00. This wheelbarrow has over $ 800.00 of new name brand power and hand tools perfect for those of you I’ve been watching hack through their projects in the home improvement section. All of these tools could help you to do a better job.
If you watch the video you’ll note that they are WELL short of the funds they need to raise for Benny. Please do what you can to help. Even a little goes a long way.
A final update on this thread. Benny’s family decided that moving was an option after all. I guess they bought a house and cancelled their renovation project with my company. Thanks to those of you who donated and offered to help.
