So I was bored and looking for something to build and that was functional. I had a idea in my head and went with it. We needed some storage for the kids stuff(bags, coats, hats, etc.) So i made this. Its 1/2 MDF, 3/4 pine for the facing and 3/4 poplar plywood for the bench. It was $400 for material and I think it came out pretty sweet. I still have to finish the crown at the top and fabricate the coat hooks for the three cubbys. I made a quick prototype of of 1/2 flat stock. I still have to make a bench cushion and other little stuff. I will do the same but make them better. I like it, I thought I would share.
Vera nice.
Looks great!
About to do the same thing at our place, very nice
Love the coat idea idea
Ugh I need more house mods motivation. Looks nice.
Lose the anchor. Everything else looks nice.
Shovel in hand because I dig it
Lose the themed pillows as well.
But seriously, nice work. This all came together nicely. Was not expecting the bare wood slats in the center. Sets it off.
Great job and love it!!
Looks nice!
Really nice job. The wood looks like shiplap.
Looks great. Reminds me that I still need to do something with our “mudroom” besides get it full of mud. LOL
X…
Thanks, the wood is from a pallet I took from work. I was gonna white wash it but I think it looks good the way it is.
Every project you do comes out awesome man. Looks great.

What type of paint did you use for the shelves?
I used oil based primer and then semigloss white paint
Latex for the topcoat? Have you had any issues with things sticking to the surface? It seems every time I paint a surface like that with latex it takes a month before the paint has cured enough for things to not stick to it.
Really anchors the room.
