A Message for African Americans

the problem isnt color its upbringing, and the area people are raised. look at the ghetto as a whole im sure the unemployment rates for whites in the hood is on par with blacks in the hood the fact is that there are more minorities in the ghetto. when you grow up in an environment that raises you from about 6th grade on to believe school is worthless and you should start selling drugs to support your family and you’ll make more money then those people going to college, when you’re that young it sounds like a good idea. When they decide thats what there gonna do they get arrested a bunch of times job opprotunitys close up and all thats left is crime. Now im sure there are quite a few people to grow up in that environment and stay in school, make it to college, and get out and do something with there life, give there children more opprotunities then they had the cycle gets broken. but there are too many single mothers raising more kids then they can handle that cant afford college even if the kid stays on the right path. untill you get people to stop popping out kids so they can get enough money to pay rent, or start getting men to stand up and take care of there kids things are going to stay how they are wether they are black, white, hispanic. look at successfull people in america and find out how many had both parents growing up i bet you will see a correlation.

In fact they were saying on the news when Obama was in Africa that the most successfull imigrants in america are africans. Once they get here they work hard and get themselves an edjucation and move up in society. so if you think genetics has anything to do with social standing or work ethics you sound ignorant and unedjucated yourself

holy fucking fail. srsly this place is full of retards.

I’m gonna raise a bunch of kids. WTB: House on the east side, $10,000.

Ding Ding Ding we have a winner.

PureXTC…here is that intelligent response to your ignorance that you have been looking or.

I would say that this is not 100% on the button… Its more of an adherence to a culture. In certain areas a type of culture is much more dominant. Hence why you see 27 (I’ve counted) clothing “Fashion” stores on bailey from winspear to the 33.

So you stick a white kid into that area, odds are he’ll tend to follow the same cultural trends. Hair style will try to match, clothing, tastes in music… so on.

And Obviously the Icons of these cultures set the trends.

I will say though from ages 18-20 the race card doesn’t seem to be that engrained in them. Anything older, its race card after race card usage. Whether its because black men and women find out it works for them… or its something they just realize over time.

Could someone tell me why you would have your 7-10 year old out on the streets at 2am… I see it far too much

When the Irish first came to America they were stuck in the ghettos. They were frowned upon just like Africans were and given even less opportunity for employment. It took them only 20 years to earn the presidency. Only 20 years to assimilate into American society. African Americans have been freed from slavery for more than 100 years. The Irish had no welfare, no gov. programs to help them and no affirmative action. What is taking Africans so long?

stroked, IMO you are ignorant, not me. Do you believe everything that you read and are taught in school? Your mind is not open.

I am sick of of one excuse after another.

The Irish came from a Western European country the Africans did not. As the son of an Irish immigrant I don’t need a lesson on this. The Irish were placed into ghettos but as swarms of Irish came in, and the fact that there were no jim crown laws forbidding them to vote, they were able to start small and obtain posts in local government and police departments in places such as NYC and Boston. From there they used these posts to slowly but surely push their way up the social latter.

It would take much longer than 20 years to gain the respect of the populace, mostly because the Irish tended to be Catholic and fears of loyalty to the pope clouded the minds of many nativists.

I will grant you that the Irish had a harder time than any other European immigrant but to compare that to the plight the Africans had is sheer nonsense.

I will continue in another post.

…Continued

As for the African population, simply stating that they have had over one hundred years of “freedom” does not make things equal.

The United States did almost nothing to help the uneducated freemen after the Civil War. The Era of Reconstruction may have helped put the union back together but as far as real change for Africans it was a complete failure.

The slave population was close to 4,000,000 of the 9,000,000 people living in the south and yet nearly every state in the south put place a set of laws and codes forbidding many rights to freemen.

Blacks were barred from voting due to poll taxes that whites knew they couldn’t pay, and literacy tests that whites knew they couldn’t pass.

State funding for schools almost exclusively went to white schools. In many counties, whites were not allowed to teach black students. Creating a cycle of poor education for generations of black students.

Blacks were barred from working certain jobs due to black codes, so there was no incentive to learn a skilled trade if you weren’t allowed to practice it.

Segregation kept black people from advancing in the ways that the Irish were allowed to do for nearly 80 years.

Even after Brown v Board of Edu, it would take three years for blacks to even attempt to enter a white school.

The KKK has killed more Americans in this country than Al Quieda or the Taliban combined and has terrorized Blacks almost into submission during the 30s-70’s.

Look at today, there are people out there who did not vote for Obama simply because “they didn’t want to see a nigger in the White House”.

All of the problems of the 20th century concerning race in this country still plague us today. I believe however that it is on the rapid decline, but it still exists.

I know my history, I am not the ignorant one here.

I agree. And the fact that he even tries to argue you and StrokedZ28 on this baffles me.

Stroked, very good argument you have there. It still does not dis prove my first argument about getting an infraction for saying that, in other words, black people have the highest unemployment rate (backed up with statistics). Meanwhile other comments about a certain race are completely ok.

Justin, I am not arguing that what slowtalon has posted is untrue.

You were given an infraction for making blatantly racist comments. If you feel other members are making such comments toward any race you can use the report post button and it would be appreciated. The fact that you can sit here and try to argue your side of this truly amazes me although it is also truly saddening to see people with this type of mindset to be honest.

Statistics only tell you the ‘what’ it tells you nothing of the ‘why’.

It is the ‘why’ that is most important. It is also the one thing your argument lacks.

Are you kidding me? My mindset?

Freakin Newmand had “It’s not cool to be Irish” in his freakin signature. But this is ok because it’s Newman and he is only bagging on the Irish. Frankley, I don’t care what he wrote in his sig but it pisses me off that I can’t say black people have a high rate of unemployment as a post on NYspeed or at any other place in America.

There is a double standard and you have fallen right into it.

Your mindset is saddening.

My type of mindset gets things changed.

It’s definitely not cool to be Irish.

I drove by the Italian fest today.

Are you fucking kidding me? It was a fucking shitshow.

QFT

i’m irish and i am far from cool sir. :nerd:

It’s most definitely not cool to be Irish.
The Italian Fest on the other hand, awesome time.

Actually I’m Italian and my life is a shitshow. Stereotype fulfilled!

First of all you did not come in and say anything about unemployment until after confronted on your racism. A joke is a joke and we have a sense of humor. Saying black people and work is like oil and water or whatever you said was and is still not funny. Also as stated if you have a problem like with newmans sig feel free to report it as opposed to try to use it as a pawn in your pro racism case you are trying to lobby. I severely regret not banning you when I had the chance. Thank god it is my mindset that of someone with a good upbringing and an education that is winning this fight in the world and I am quite happy with the “changes” that we are making.

LOL who deleted Nemans post

I had a big essay style post typed up, but basically the following line is step one:

Weather he’s “black enough” or not, Obama being elected is a step forward, and now if he can somehow motivate an end to a terrible cycle that has been let go for too long, we might see some actual change.
